Shaun Anstelt's third goal of
the game with 21 seconds left
on the clock at Wingham Sun-
day gave Seaforth's midgets a
4-3 win over New Hamburg
and the regional Silver Suck
▪ "B" hockey championship.
The locals now advance to
the annual International Silver
Stick at Sarnia, Jan. 19 to 21.
Victory was sweet for
Seaforth Sunday, as they edged
the same team that tripped
them 4-1 in their only Toss in
the week-long tournament at
Wingham, in their opener Mon-
day.
Anstett scored 10 goals and
Seaforth swept all four games
on the weekend to win the title,
including a 6-3 win over Port
Elgin in the semi-finals Satur-
day when he scored another hat
trick.
The Seaforth midgets nipped
Listowel 4-3 earlier Saturday,
and also doubled Walkerton 6-
3 Friday night.
Goaltender Charles Robertson
was a big reason Scaforth won
the championship game against
New Hamburg, and Dylan
Wick got the team's other goal.
He is captain of the team and
was presented with the cham-
pionship banner.
New Hamburg tied the final
twice with powerplay goals
before Anstett's winner.
Jered Munro's two goals and
Chad McCallum's single
helped Sea forth push Port
Elgin into the consolation
round, and Anstett scored twice

Cents hot but others hotter
Seaforth's Centenaires are hot
but the other division front-
runners remain hotter as the
Ontario Hockey Association
Junior "D"evelopment League
enters the heart of its schedule
this December.
The Centenaires have taken
seven of a possible eight points
and remain unbeaten in their
last four games in the wake of
a 2-2 tie with the Mitchell
Hawks on home ice in Scaforth
Sunday night, but the local
juniors still slid into a third-
place tie with the charging
Lucan Irish in the rugged live -
team Morcnz Division of the
18 -team league.
The Centenaires next take to
the ice Friday night when' the
Langton Thunderbirds come to
town for an 8:30 game. The
Cents are in Parkhill Saturday
night for an 8:15 date with the
North Middlesex Stars.
The Exeter Hawks remain
undefeated and untied in first
place of the five -team division,
now with 32 points from 16 -
straight wins. The Centenaires
and Lucan are now both dead-
locked in second nine points
back with 23 points, but
Scaforth has a game in hand on
the Irish.
Greg Houbcn chipped home
the tying goal with only 4:04
Tweens sweep
Marsha Denys lit the Tight
three times and Sarah Agar
played another strong game in
net as the Scaforth Tweens
edged Mitchell 7-6 to win the
twecn A division of the Lon-
don Forest City Invitational
Ringette Tournament on the
weekend.
Both Mitchell and Scaforth
went an undefeated 4-0 in
preliminary games leading up
to the final, and the lead sec -
sawed back and forth in the
championship until Scaforth
took the lead for good with a
little more than two minutes
left in the game.
The Scaforth twccns beat
Dorchester, London, Ajax and
Pickering to make it to the
championship.
The two teams are scheduled
to meet again at a tournament
in Mitchell later this month.
left in the third period Sunday
in the tamest game the Cents
have played in many a moon.
Only two penalties were called
the entire 65 minutes by
referee Dave Whaley, both
minors and both to the Hawks.
Linemates J.C. Kirk and
Dwight Gingerich scored the
Seaforth goals, as the short-
staffed Cents led 2-1 after the
second period in front of 135
fans.
Both goalies, Mike Stephen-
son for Seaforth and Scott
Vosper for Mitchell, made
game -saving stops late in the
regulation and in the five-
minute overtime.
The Cents have only played
three times in the past two
weeks, but have a busy Decem-
ber scheduled with 10 tilts on
tap, including consecutive
Friday night home dates in the
middle of the month against
Morenz rivals Lucan, Exeter
and Mitchell and another
against OHA defending -cham-
pion Thamesford of the other
division in their conference.
Right now the Cents have a
winning percentage of .676, on
track for one of the better
seasons in their 23-; ear history.
But they have only picked up
five of a possible 12 points
within their division so far,
which docs not bode well. The
way the playoffs are structured
in the re -aligned JDL this
season, the bottom team gets
bumped then you roust get out
of your own division before

CALAHAN O'RI:ILLY of the Sharks in the Seaforth
and District Hockey Association's junior House League.
He scored all of his team's goals in a 4-3 win over
the Leafs.
SECOND STAR
SARAH AGAR played five strong games in net to
help . Seaforth's tweens beat Mitchell, Dorchester,
London, Ajax and Pickering and swoop to the title in the
"A" division of the London Forest City Invitational
Ringcttc Tournament on the weekend.
FIRST STAR
Without a doubt, it would have to be SHAUN
ANSTIETT of the Seaforth midgets whose back-to-back
hat tricks and 10 goals in four tournament games
helped propel the locals to an upset win in the Midget B
division at the annual regional Silver Stkk tournament
in Wingham. They now advance to the International
tournament in January.
advancing to OHA conference
then league championship play.
Seaforth has signed a second
import, defenceman Brad Par-
sons from Gowanston. He has
past junior experience with the
Listowel Cyclones and Win-
gham Ironmen. He also rooms
with Centenaires' veteran Jason
Hayter at the University of
Waterloo.
The Cents only had 14
skaters for Sunday night's
game against Mitchell.. Two
Scaforth juniors couldn't play
because they lost their .equip-
ment earlier Iaat week. when it
was stolen, inside and along
with the car belonging to one
of those players.
