Cents take two games on weekend road trip
The Seaforth Centenaires are
coming on.
They beat the defending
Ontano Hockey Association
champion Trojans 5-3 in their
own rink at Thamesford Sun-
day night, after doubling the
1992-94 OHA champs, the
Mitchell Hawks, 6-3 at
Monkton the night before.
Sunday night's OHA Junior
"D"evelopment League game
went right down to the wire
and was without a doubt the
best full 60 minutes of hockey
the Centenaires have so far
fashioned this season.
Tim Barton iced the victory
with 53 seconds left on the
clock. Brandon Corriveau's
second goal of the game,
scored on a breakaway while
the Cents ire shorthanded at
7:25 of the third period stood
as the winner. Morenz Division
scoring leader Steve Mclnally
also scored a pair of gutsy
goals, and Scott Wood notched
his second road win df the
weekend in the Seaforth net.
The teams were tied 1-1 after
the first period and 3-3 after
two. The defending champs
lost their composure on more
than one occasion in the third,
but the Cents showed discipline
and "turned turtle" until skill
got them the insurance goal,
then fought back but went
home with the win against a
team that has been in the OHA
final for five of the past six
seasons.
It was an impressive display
of self-control by the second -
place Seaforth juniors, now

Steve Mclnally: Cents sniper has 4 -goal weekend
with a live -point bulge on the
Lucan Irish 6 in third spot.
The Centenaires play only
one game this weekend. They
host the Mitchell Hawks to a
return game at the Seaforth and
District Community Centres
Sunday night at 8:30.
Saturday night in their annual
game at Monkton the young
Hawks and Cents traded a half-
dozen goals in the first period.
Seaforth added another in the
first minute of the second, then
cushioned their lead with two
more goals in the third while
keeping the red Tight off in
their own end of the rink.
McInally scored twice, as did
Jason Hayter for the Cen-
tenaires, and Jason Dunseith
and Brent Hulley added
singles.
It was only Seaforth's
second win in seven games
within their Morenz Division of
the Yeck Conference.
