Tykes head to Kitchener for game
Tiny Seaforth hockey players
are heading for the bright lights
and big city.
The local tykes and mites
will take to the ice at
Kitchener's Memorial
Auditorium between periods of
upcoming Kitchener Rangers'
games.
The tykes ( seven years old)
will play themselves for eight
minutes between the first and
second periods of the Rangers'
major junior game against
Windsor on Fri. Dec. 1, and
the mites (ages five and six)
will be featured, same time and
same station, against Owen
Sound at the Auditorium on
Fri. Jan. 12.
Both nights have been
declared Seaforth Minor Hock-
ey Nights by the Rangers, in a
promotion with the Seaforth
and District Minor Hockey
Association.
Former S&DMHA and
Seaforth Centenaires' grad
Boyd Devereaux, one of the
top-rated 17-year-olds in the
country, is a rookie with the
Rangers.

mation contact the local minor
hockey organization.
Centenaires split weekend games
The Seaforth Centenaires
rebounded with a solid 2-1 win
over the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs
Sunday afternoon after they
were walloped 6-1 by the still
soaring Exeter Hawks Friday
night.
Both were home games. The
split leaves the Centenaires still
in second place in the rugged
Morenz Division of the Ontario
Hockey Association's Junior
"D"evelopment League.
• The local juniors have a
tough two -game road trip on
tap. Saturday night they are in
Monkton for what has become
an annual fixture against their
arch -rival the Mitchell Hawks
at 8:30. Then Sunday evening
they take on the defending
OHA champion Trojans, who
still rank second best in the
Toss column for the enure
league, at Thamesford at 7:30.
Saturday night will be a test.
The Cents are only 1-5 in their
own Morenz Division so far
this season, which you must
get out of to advance in
playoffs, and Mitchell could be
sleeping in the basement -
playing solid defensive hockey
lately and with five games in
hand on a rival they. love to
beat at any time.
J. C. Kirk took a feed from
Dwight Gingerich then broke
away for what stood as the
winning goal late in the second
period Sunday, as the Cen-
tenaires went down to three
lines, each of which played
solid two-way hockey. Scott
Wood was stellar in the
Seaforth net, particularly in the
third period when the Bulldogs
pressed for the equalizer.
Tim Barton evened it up for
Seaforth on a powerplay mid-
way through the second period,
as the Cents trailed 1-0 after
the first.
The line of Kirk, Gingerich
and Jeff Volland impressed
with its improvement, as
Seaforth started winning its
share of one-on-one battles and
creating opportunities.
Friday night Chris Kennedy
was a one-man wrecking crew,
before being tossed from the
game then stirring things up to
an almost equal degree in the
packed stands, dominating the
ice in the first two periods with
a hat trick.

Exeter easily kept its un-
beaten and untied run alive,
which stood at 12 games
coming out of this weekend's
action. These Hawks are
threatening to run away with
the division, now six points up
on second- place Seaforth and
with.two games in hand.
The Hawks waltzed to their
six goals Friday without Nate
Burns, a usual thorn in the
Centenaires' side, who was
writing exams.
At times the Cents seemed
intimidated by the tough
Hawks' forward, veteran Ken-
nedy, who has the hands to
take advantage of the space
and time this respect allows
him. Rookie Joey MacDonald
from Clinton assisted on two of
his goals, and veteran
playmaker Sean McCann
helped set up all three of them.
Wayne Schoonderwoerd was
the lone Seaforth shooter to
solve the riddle of Darren
Kints in the Exeter net, when
he crashed the net at 8:37 of
the second period, giving local
fans the glimpse of a hope for
a comeback. But the Hawks
scored twice in 59 seconds
about seven minutes later to
put an end to that.
Exeter padded its lead with
two unanswered goals in the
third period, as the game got
nasty with a couple of scraps,
including a brouhaha, witjl the
by then ejected Kennedy in the
thick of it, at the north end of
the stands that erupted at the
end of regulation time.

LITTLE TO CHEER ABOUT - Jeff Volland (15) celebrates
the only goal the Seaforth Centenaires managed to score on
the high -flying Exeter Hawks during Friday night's 6-1 loss
at the local arena. Wayne Schoonderwoerd scored it, and
then got flattened by the stingy Exeter defence.

BABY'S FIRST TEETH
Your baby's first tooth is an exciting event. This usually
happens around six months of age. By the time he or she is
two and one half years old, all of the baby (primary) teeth
should be present ( 20 teeth). It is important that your child be
seen by the dentist, even at this young age. Usually, the dentist
will examine your child's teeth with a mirror to determine if
there are any major problems with their development or
cavities. This is also a good time to show your child around
the office, give him or her a ride in the dental chair, and meet
the staff. This helps your child to become more comfortable
with the dental environment so that when regular visits start,
your child knows what to expect. The first visit should be a
positive and fun experience. Remember. problems with your
child's teeth may start early, so don't put off that first visit!
