"When I accept it, I'll accept it on behalf of all the volun- teers - especially the hospital volunteers. What I did was small potatoes compared to the. large number of people in town who contribute their time. A big thanks should go to Marlen Vincent (former hospital board chair) and Bill Thibert (hospital CEO) as far as the mini mara- thon goes," he said. "I still have a fond attach- • ment to Seaforth. When I'm out west, people ask me where I'm from and I say, `Seaforth.'" Tim Cumming - Humanitarian Service Award Expositor exposed! She is a busy lady both sum- mer and winter. Sharon has been involved with Seaforth minor ball for the past eight years, as an executive member, coach and manager. She has been on the local minor hockey executive for the past three years. And she has also represented both organizations working with the Minor Sports Council's weekly Monday night fundraising bingos, since their inauguration. The Carnochans have four children, ranging in age from 8 to 15: Kevin, Steven, Matthew (all of whom play minor ball and hockey) and the eldest Erin (who works at the arena). They run a mixed farming operation, cash crop and pork, in Tuckersmith west of Seaforth. Sharon says she played ball for the Wildcats slo-pitch team until two years ago, but had to give it up because she was "too busy". She represents Seaforth minor ball at inter -township organizational meetings, assists booking umpires and diamond time, and has hosted playoff tournaments. Her behind -the - scenes work on the executive includes organizing all equip- ment and uniforms. Last summer this involved 22 minor ball teams. Sharon was also a member of the original group that started the annual mini -tyke tour- nament. Group thought tract might be worth more Continued from page 1 She added the relatively low quoted dollar value of the prop- erty has given her group hope. "I think a lot of people thought it might be worth a lot more," she said, "and 1 am delighted that it is probably going to he within our means." But she said hope for fund raising success does not mean anyone is counting unhatched chickens. Graham said it is now up to all the interested groups to work together with the Nature Conservancy, the county, the MNR and the Conservation Authority to decide just how the Morris Tract should be used in the future. According to an MNR letter submitted to the council Aug. 15, clean-up of the Tract should begin before any heavy snow- fall and will include a 'careful' salvage of the more than 500 trees damaged in the upper, western plateau arca. They estimated the salvage value of the timber to be about S40,000, and said any cutting that docs occur, will he closely controlled while keeping other uses and values of the wood lot in mind.
