Goderich player great addition to Centenaires squad
Brandon Corriveau has ar-
rived!
And the Seaforth Centenaires
are glad he. did.
The 18 -year-old centre from
Goderich was hotter than a
pistol last week, scoring six
goals and adding another half-
dozen assists, to help the Cen-
tenaires to three wins in a row
and sole possession of first
place in the Morenz Division
of the Ontario Hockey As-
sociation's Junior
"D"evelopment League.
The 12 points equalled Cor-
riveau's total output as a rookie
with the Cents last season. But
that took 22 games, which was
all he played. He only showed
up for practices and games
when he felt like it and left the
team in late January.
Corriveau says he is more
"focussed" this time around,
and his work schedule at a
Goderich food market is more
flexible so it is easier to get to
games this season, then "get
up" for them.
"I feel like I'm starting to fit
in and I'm stressing the
physical aspect, but I still have
to work on my upper body
strength," the OAC student said
after Sunday's 3-2 win over the
North Middlesex Stars in
which he scored one goal and
assisted on another.
"I like to make my presence
felt," he added, which he cer-
tainly did last week - one of
the team leaders in hits in all
three of last week's games.
In last Thursday's 10-4 win
at Ayr he notched three goals
and three assists. He added two
goals and another assist as the
Seaforth juniors hosted Lam-
beth to a 7-1 lambasting Friday
night.
Corriveau says it helps to be
playing with the other Goderich
tads on the team, for instance
Andrew Scott who is on the
same forward line.
"You can use your
imagination more because you
know what each is going to
do," he says. "We've all played
together in the past, in minor
games and in road hockey and
schoolyards, all the way up."
He is wearing sweater num-
ber 14 this season, and his
team-mates call him "Rod".
The Centenaires led Lucan by
two points after this weekend's
action, and the undefeated
Exeter Hawks by three points.
That sets up what should be
a dandy game between
Seaforth and those same
Hawks, who have three games
in hand, Friday night in Exeter
at 8:30 p.m. Seaforth also
travels to Parkhill for another
game against the much -
improved North Middlesex
Stars Saturday night at 8:15.
CENTS 3 STARS 2
GoaItender Mike Stephenson
made two clutch saves in the
final minute to preserve the
win in Seaforth Sunday after-
noon, as the Stars gained
momentum as the game wore
on and chipped away at an
early 3-0 lead for the locals,
outshooting them 14-4 in the
final period and 32 to 23 on
the game. J.C. Kirk, Tim Bar-
ton and Corriveau scored for
the Centenaires.
CENTS 7 LANCERS 1
The only out-and-out loss
Seaforth has suffered so far
this season was by a 4-3 score
at Lambeth late last month.
The Cents built up a 4-0 lead
in Friday's rematch on their
own pond, then never looked
back. Scott Wood got another
win in net and Corriveau lit the
lamp twice. Scott Wright,
Jason Henderson, Steve
Mclnally, Don Rivers and
Kalen Carroll also tallied for
the Cents, who have scored 55
times in eight games, tops for
all divisions of both conferen-
ces of the JDL. The defending -
champion Thamesford Trojans
Butson scores hat -trick
EASYRIDER 5 RAIDERS 0
Raiders had a little trouble
getting organized along with
trying to score goals also!
Wow! Is this the real Easy
Riders? Look at Butson -hot -
to -trot scoring a hat trick of
goals! Singles go out to Terry
Morey, Lawrence Vick and
keen passing came from Kurt
Lindemann, Jason Phelan and
Gary Souch.
ROYALS 0 DUMPERS 12
Royals goalie, Rob Dearing,
played every angle of goal
tending but a few seemed to
sneak by. His fellow
teammates were in front of
him but the blasting shots
blew past them all. Not quite
a 'bakers dozen' scored!
Goals go out to John
Eppinburger, Steve Eckert Jr.,
Bob McKenzie, Bill Dale,
Harold Hugill, Jerry Wright,
Don Henderson and hot dog
K. Van Den Neucker, lots of
passes from Brett Finlayson
and Gary Dill.
WINTHROP 2 KNIGHTS 2
All goals were scored in the
second half of the game as
Winthrop takes the lead with
'Toast' being the hero for the
first goal. Second one goes
out to Mike Thomas,
assistance from Dwayne
Pryce and Jerry Bremner.
Look out! The Knights wake
up and Jeff Jackson pops in a
goal with Jeff Campbell
scoring the second goal right
behind to tie the game up.
Great game by both teams, if
you can call 'Toast's' goal a
real goal which was awarded
to him!
PARRLINE 1 CYCLONE 3
Parr Line's lone goal was
scored by Dennis Dolmage
and no help was needed. Hey!
These Cyclones have shaken
up a couple of Seaforth
broomball teams already.
They are definitely not shy
but full of esteem and get up
and go as three goals were
scored by Dan O'Neill Jr.,
Murray Smith and Brian
Roppl A little help came
from Mike Dooreleyers. I
hope the teams aren't
obsessed with the 'size' of
the Cyclone goalie.
WINTHROP 1 SOCIALS 0
Socialites were no push over
as Winthrop ladies took the
lead in the second half of the
game. The goal was scored
by Janice Finlayson and
assisted by Deb Murray.
PARR LINE 7 PERTH 0
Perth ladies came out keen
and with a full squad of
players but came up a little
short on goals! Dynamic
goals scored by Heidi Elliop,
Glenda Chaput, Cheryl Kruse,
Bev Shea and shorty Cathy
Innes. Lots of passes from
Norah Eckert, Sandra Wilton
and swinger Bonnie O'Reilly
GRADS 6 RUSTLERS 1
Rustlers are finally on the
scoreboard as Michael
Stevens flips the ball directly
over the opposing goalie's
shoulder. Helpers were
Stephen Leonhardt and Tim
Cummings. But the Grads
kept the lead with goals
scored by Martin and Al
Wynja, Craig Smith, and a
junior Juvenile Steve Wynja.
Back up help came from
Gary Verhoog and Dana
Bean.

New Bulls coach
Mike Henry of Blyth has
been named coach of the Brus-
sels Bulls. An assistant coach
with the club since the start of
last season, he replaces Jim
Bridges of Stratford who
stepped down from the helm of
the Western Junior C Hockey
League club two weekends
ago, after replacing Scott Pet-
tigrew in the off-season.
BRANDON CORRIVEAU
are next with 48 goals in eight
games.
CENTS 10 AYR 4
Corriveau had his six -point
spree and Seaforth led 7-0 tate
in the second period. Ayr
scored three times on the ,
powerplay, twice with a two-
man advantage, late in the third
period to make the score seem
more respectable. Seaforth
dominated every aspect of the
game. Rookie Chad McCallum
added two goals. Andrew
Scott, Dean Finnigan, Jason
Dunseith, Tim Barton and
Carroll popped the others.
