The St. Columban Catholic Women's League participated in the W.R.A.P. (White Ribbons Against Pornography) campaign on the weekend. The ladies handed out white ribbons to people after Mass. The purpose of this campaign is to display white ribbons to inform people that the community is concerned about community standards. People are encouraged to wear the ribbon during the week of Oct. 22-29. The St. Columban CWI. Guests attending the baptism and dinner were the grandparents, Joe and Helen Nolan of St. Columban and Gerald and Dorothy McAuley of London; Louis Nolan of RR 4 Seaforth, Ruth Balser of London; John and Bernadine McAuley, Katie and Sean of Kincardine; Ruth and Mark Busscher of Windsor; Pam Nolan of St. Columban; Brad Beuttenmiller of Seaforth and Father Mooney. Congratulations to Gerry Grade Two class builds 'Twoville' In the Early Years class, `orange' was the topic. They made orange playdough, went on an orange hunt, made orange books with Mrs. Griffith and cut out orange things. They also made paper bag pumpkins and have begun to make spooky witches. They are geuing ready for Halloween with lots of songs and poems. Cassandra Banks brought her and her brother's Guinea pigs to show her Grade 1 class. Sassy and Squeaks enjoyed their experience and the kids certainly loved having them. The class also had fun this week making ,assembly line pumpkin muffins. They learned different aspects of math-eg. measuring, counting etc. The Grade 2's have completed their box city- `Twoville'. They also went on a treasure hunt and found a wonderful goody. In art the Walton by Patty. Banks ` 887-6860 kids got to disguise pumpkins out of paper with some crazy - looking results. Mrs. Scott's grade three class took a wonderful wilderness trip through Steve and Rita Bower's bush. Steve taught them about identifying different kinds of trees and by using an increment borer he showed them how to tell the age of trees. They discovered a deer nest and they saw many deer tracks. It was a great learning experience for the class. Congratulations to the kids that competed in the cross country run. Jennifer McClure, Josh Gowan, Krista Shortreed and Tyler Elligsen finished in the top 20. Mrs. Vivian said that they all showed good sportsmanship. Margaret Lacroix had quite a surprise when she entered her house on Saturday night. There to greet her with `Happy 60th Birthday' were 35 family members and friends. She said that she had no idea that anything like this was being planned. Congratulations! Mary Humphries greeted worshippers at Duff's United Church on Oct. 22. Kevin Wilbee began the service by lighting the Christ Candle. Rev. Banks welcomed every- one and reminded them of the Turkey Supper on Nov. 1. Cheryl, Glen and Lucas Moder, from Windsor, were guests at the home of Doug and Marj Fraser this weekend. They helped Doug and Marj celebrate their anniversary. The couple both agreed that it has been a wonderful 47 years. Week of Child huge success At Hensall United Church Reverend Henry's message was 'Good News For Broken Hearts'. The children's story was 'Say You're Sorry'. Mts. Nancy Young was confirmed. Her daughter Jennifer was baptized. The greeters were Greg and Brenda Dayman and family. There was a barbeque for those confirmed this year and their families following the service. The ushers were Wayne Corbett and Dennis Martin. The anniversary service will be on Nov. 19 at 10 am. The speaker will be Bruce Whitmore. Music will be provided by the Harmony Kings. The flowers in the church were in memory of the late Janet Moir. Hensall by Liz Sangster 262-2715 At Carmel Presbyterian Church, Rev. Dan's message was 'When Christians Dance'. Remembrance Day Service will be held at Carmel Church on Nov. 5 at 9:45 am. The annual Week of the Child was a huge success again in Hensall. Many businesses sponsored events and activities. Costume Parade winners included: Warren : Elder, Keelan Westlake -Power, Heather Lenting, Megan Bisback, Lindsay Anne Allen, Laura Elder, Brittany Pilgrim, and Jordan Reid. Poster submission prizes were awarded to: Artemysia Fragiskatos, Megan Bisback, Panyese Fragiskatos, Luke Wollis, Keelan Westlake - Power, Justin Campbell .and Michael Collins. Point collection sheets must be submitted to the Municipal Office by Oct. 26, to be included in the week's final contest. Children are reminded that they will receive a certificate from the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario in Jan. 1996 for their poster submission . . who knows, a Hensall picture may be featured on next year's Week of the Child posters! Speaker gives enjoyable talk Congratulations to Catherine Elizabeth McIver and Brent William Zimmerman who were united in marriage at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Dublin, on Oct. 21. New babies always make us happy! Congratulations to Kevin, Jan and Adrienna O'Rourke on the safe arrival of Kaylen Michele who arrived on Oct. 10 at Seaforth Community Hospital. Town and Country Homemakers Seaforth and Area Dining Out held a successful and enjoyable dinner and guest speaker on Oct. 12. Special speaker was Rev. Bruce Cook who gave a very witty and enjoyable appreciation talk on Thanksgiving. . Car business caters to everybody Every since he was a young boy, he was interested in cars. Len Teatero has been in the car business for eight years in the Seaforth and Mitchell area. In April of this year, Teatero and his wife Donna opened Teatero Motor Products (TMP) at 220 Main St. South, Seaforth. TMP deals in sales of both import and domestic vehicles.
