MI0N[ sotsctr 15 -THS HURON EXPOSITOR, August 30, ins Community Queensway Jewitt plays bagpipes for retirement home residents The residents of Queensway Retirement Home in Hensall were busy Tuesday and Wednesday entertaining at "Dining for Seniors". They were at Exeter on Tuesday and presented a program of singing, jokes and recitations. Wednesday found them at the Clinton Legion Diners. They thank Joyce Pepper fly acting as their pianist and also Bill Clark of Northcrest Apts. for his excellent fiddle playing. The activities were enjoyed by residents. It also felt good to give a little back to the community. "Scotland" was the focus Thursday. Many gathered outdoors to hear the bagpipe music provided by John Jewitt, and see the wonderful Scottish dancing of the Laurie children Many visited Queensway's booth at the Zurich Bean Festival. It was fun meeting so many people informally. Coming Events Aug. 31, 7 p.m. - Birthday Party, Entertainment by Ray Caan and Group Sept. 10 - Picnic and trip to Clinton Racetrack AMY NEI ANDS PHOTO SCOTTISH DANCING - Andrew and Graham Laurie, of Varna, demonstrate Scottish dancing at Queensway Nursing Home in Hensalf on Aug. 17. The demonstration was part of International Day at the nursing home. Residents were learning about Scotland and the Scottish heritage. Dublin misses special woman Dublin and area are saddened on the death of a special lady, Catherine Murray, who passed away on Wed., Aug. 23. Sympathy is extended to a son, William Feeney and his wife, Catherine, Dublin; to daughters, Catherine and husband Theo Melady, Seaforth; Louise and husband Frank Maloney, Kitchener; and Rosemarie and husband Cyril Murray, New Hamburg; to a brother, Philip Flanagan, Toronto; to a sister- in-law, Catherine Flanagan, Kitchener; 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Monday, Aug.. 28 at St. Patrick's Church, Dublin. Our deepest sympathy is extended to all family, relatives and friends at this difficult time. A very Happy Birthday to a special Dublin lady - Mary Jamieson, your many, many friends wish you good years ahead! Thought for Today; `Friends need love, especially when you think they do not deserve it.' 4-H helps environment, raises funds with battery blitz Huron County 4-H Leaders' Association, along with 4-H members, has again collected a trailer load of batteries. These spent lead -acid batteries can be dangerous if left lying around. During June and July over 1000 batteries were brought to one of the eight depots throughout the county. Thanks to the various dealers who supplied a safe spot for collection and to those who brought in the dead lead -acid batteries, Huron County is a safer place and 4-H has funds to help finance some of its programs. Watch for news of- the collection again next year.
