Sick days become RRSPs
At its regular meeting July 4,
Mullett Council carried a
recorded vote to translate "sick
days" owed to its road workers
into registered retirement
savings plans for each.
Sick days are to be multiplied
by 75 per cent of the 1987 pay
rate of pay then put into the
RRSPs.
Reeve Tom Cunningham
voted against the motto,) but
Deputy -Reeve Robert Szusz
and councilors Bruce Bergsma
and Doug Hugill carried the
vote.
Two other recorded votes
during the session ended tied at
two votes each and thus car-
ried.
One of these was a mouton to
not grant approval for the
Huron Tourism Association to
sell lottery calendars in support
of their projects in 1995 and
1996. The other defeated
motion was that Mullett not
agree to contribute a maximum
of $40 to help pay for the cost
of placing an advertisement by
the central Huron Economic
Development Committee.
Reeve Cunningham and
Coun. Hugill favoured the
latter motion, but Deputy -
Reeve Szusz and Coun.
Bergsma voted against it.
Council. granted $100 to the
Huron Plowmen's Association
for 1995, and contributed $85
to Seaforth Community
Hospital for this fiscal year.
Cunningham and Hugill were
appointed Hullett's voting
delegates for the annual con-
ference of the Association of
Municipalities of Ontario.
A road account of $101.16
was approved, passed and paid,
with Szusz declaring a conflict
of interest and refraining from
the vote.
Total June accounts of
$475,150.79 were likewise
approved, passed and . paid.
This sum included general
accounts of $454,262.47 and
road accounts of $20,888.32.
