Perrie ranked
in top five
Well-known Brussels -area
athlete Lori Perrie, a student at
Seaforth District High School,
is ranked in the top five
entering this weekend's
Canadian Junior Track and
Field Championships in Ab-
botsford, British Columbia.
She is entered in both the shot
put and discus.
She also placed 13 in a field
of about 22 in the later event,
he specialty, in Montreal at the
national senior championships
a week ago Saturday.
This is her last year of junior
eligibility.
Perrie, 19, was disappointed
in her performance at Montreal,
throwing about 38.08 metres
and just missing the top 12, the
cutoff for the finals.
She says if she had thrown as
well as she did in warmup she
would have placed about sixth
or seventh. She has been
throwing more than 40 metres
in training this summer.
She trains on average about
twice a week in London under
the tutelage of John Allen at,
the London -Western Track and
Field Club. He is also the
coach at Banting high school in
London where he coaches
Jason Tunks, one of top
throwers in the country in both
the discuss and shot.
The top dozen finishers,
totalled from all. the events at
this weekend's event in B.C.,
will earn a berth a trip to Chile

go to Chile but "realistically" is
hoping for a berth in the latter
