ommunity shower at Duff's
A community shower was
held at Duff's United church J Walton
June 20 for Heather McGavin.
Edith Wcy welcomed everyone
and then invited Tracy Bosman
to the front to sing, 'Can You
Feel the Love Tonight.'
Following the song Anne Ryan
did a reading called, 'This is a
Husband.' Gail Moffett and
Mildred Travis sang two songs
for Heather 'May you Always'
and 'Love me Tender' with
Margery Huether
accompanying them on the
piano. Helen Craig had the
people play a 'name bingo'
game. Kim Fritz came in first
and her mother Barb Fritz got
second prize. From out of the
choir room came a very odd
newly wed couple singing a
very different version of 'Side
by Side'. Gloria Wilbee
dressed in her wedding gown
and donning a long blond wig
was the bride and her partner
wearing a black suit and
glasses with eyebrows was
JoAnn McDonald.
Olene Dennis then had the
group see if they could come
up with 27 words from the
word 'margarine'. Louie Goos
then read a poem called, 'For
your new home.'
Heather and her sister Kathy,
and mother Marie moved to the
front of the room and began

thrilled with all the lovely gifts
and she thanked everyone and
said what a wonderful
community this was. With that
she was presented with one
more, very special gift - a table
cloth, designed and drawn in
liquid embroidered by Phyllis
Mitchell. Everyone who came
- to the shower that evening had
signed a guest book and from
there Marion Godkin wrote alt
the names onto the tablecloth.

Mrs. Bennett then asked Miss
Bogie (her teachers Aide) to
the front and presented her
with a farewell gift. She said
that is had been such a
pleasure working with Miss
Bogie. Mrs. Vandenedool then
asked Miss Jewitt to come
forward and said that she
didn't know how she will get
along without Miss Jewitt's
computer knowledge and how
much the school will miss her.
Miss Jewitt said how
wonderful it had been to work
at Walton Public School.
Then Mrs. Scott called Mrs.
Howe -Lobb and though she
tried she couldn't keep the
tears from falling as she said
how much she appreciated
working beside her. Mrs. Scott
told how in the book 'Anne of
Green Gables Anne had talked
about 'kindred spirits' and that
is what her and Mrs. Lobb had
become.
Mrs. Howe -Lobb said that
she loved her time working at
the school and with such
wonderful pupils and staff. All
three teachers were wished the
best of luck. Then Mr. Tremeer
(who is retiring this year) was
called into the room and was
seated in the rocking chair.
Mrs. Bennett, carrying a bag of
goodies, said she had it from a
very reliable source that Mr.
Tremeer loved to go gardening.
Being worried that his head
and the top of his ears might
get sunburned she pulled out a
straw hat, pointing out to him
that it had a three inch brim.
And to protect his eyes from
the UVB rays she presented
him with some very dark
shades.
The children were getting
quite a laugh as he modelled
each item. Finally with concern
that there will be such a
dramatic change for his hands
(from pen to hoe)eghe gave him
a pair of work gloves. They all
wished him the best and happy
gardening. Don stood up and
thanked everyone and said that
this group of students will
come in handy helping him
pick stoncs in his garden. He
welcomed everyone to drop in
and see him sometime. He
went on to say that there had
been quite a change in this
school since coming here six
years ago.
Lavern and Marion Godkin
greeted worshippers at Duff's
United Church June 25. Rev.
Randy Banks welcomed
everyone and announced that
there will be Vacation Bible
School from July 10 to July 14.
It will start at 9:30 and end at
Noon. After singing the
children's hymn Patty Banks
called children and Sunday
School Teachers forward. She
thanked the teachers for giving
of their time this past year to
teach the kids. She then told
about a few of her experiences
as teacher of the teens. Then
she asked each teacher to hand
out the certificates to the kids
in their classes.
JoAnn McDonald, Secretary -
Treasurer, handed out the
attendance certificates and
seals. Rev. Banks thanked the
teachers and the children for
being so faithful in their
attendance.
Laurie, Jennifer and Ryan
Brubacher were up to Walton
from Kitchener to attend the
Country Smorgasbord at Duff's
United Church and to visit
friends. Laurie said that it felt
good to be in Walton again and
that she will be back when the
Fall Supper is on.

PLAN NO. U-884
NARROW FAMILY HOME SUITS CORNER LOT
BY M. TYNAN
Copyright 1994
An angled entrance and a contoured design for the upper floor make this home interesting to
view from the front and side and consequently suitable for a corner lot.
Enter through double doors into a spacious foyer open to the second storey. French doors lead
into a formal living/dining area which offers a cosy gas fireplace, feature windows, and another
french door which leads from the dining area into a gourmet style kitchen. The chef in the family
will enjoy the handy work island, the efficient u -shaped work area, and plenty of cupboard and
counter space. A large family room, open to the kitchen and nook, provides a comfortable atmo-
sphere for informal gatherings, The den, set apart from the main traffic areas, would make an
ideal home office or study room.
Upstairs, all three bedrooms are a good size. The master features a five piee ensuite with a raised
swirl tub. The games room, complete with a closet and a three piece ensuite, could be used as a
nanny suite.
Plans for U-884 may be obtained for $425.00 for a package of five complete sets of working
prints and 139.00 for each additional set of the same plan. Allow 615.00 extra to covet the cost of
postage and handling (B.C. residents add applicable sales tax to plan total) (All Canadian resi-
dents add 7% OST to plan total plus postage and handling).
This is one of our new designs. Many innovative plans are now available in our home plan cata-
logue for 113.85 including postage and handling and 7% OST.
