Homecoming banner over street
BY JEAN ROSS
The momentum has begun!
The Homecoming banner is
waving at Main and Godcrich
streets and the balloons are
`bobbing' on the sign in front
of the Homecoming store
(when it's open.) 1 stopped into
the store recently and it was
like the reunion had already
started. People were shaking
hands and there were greetings
of welcome. The store will
now be open from 10 a.m. to
5:15 p.m. on Monday to Satur-
day, and 7-9 p.in. on Thursday
night. Due to the extended
hours, morc volunteers are
needed. Please drop into the
store and sign up for a shift.
It's really a fun time!

Father Hardy is
honoured
Father Hardy conducted Mass
for our residents and members
of the community last Tuesday
and also returned Wednesday
to hold inter -denominational
worship service when our
regularly scheduled minister
had to cancel. Thanks to Father
Hardy for taking this. His
thoughfulness shown towards
our residents has earned him
the recognition of being named
'Volunteer of the Month'.
Residents enjoyed entertain-
ment this week by tnembers of
Northside Junior Choir. Every-
one enjoyed this program very
much and welcomed the Mem-
bers of the Northside U.C.W.
who held their meeting here
afterwards. Our 'Garden club'
was very busy planting window
box's for our front verandah.
They look lovely!
is available at the store. The
green and gold streamers that
the decorating committee is
going to use can be ordered at
the store. There is a sample
there, along with streamers of
the Canadian flag. You must
order a minimum of 10 ft. and
it takes two weeks for delivery.
If you want any of these items,
its' important to order as soon
as you can. Balloons with the
logo on them will soon be in
the store.
Its been a number of months
now since the Expositor had a
picture of our logo designer.
For the ones who didn't see it
(or remember), Linda Bailey is
the one who did such a great
job. It's getting plenty of use.
The Legion has used it on a
Homecoming pin with the
Legion crest.
Lois Moore did a very nice
thing! She went to Maplewood
and registered the residents,
and plans to go to Seaforth
Mpnor. The committee is ask-
ing again for local residents to
please prcrcgistcr, leaving time
to register our 'homecomers'
during the event. The name
tags hang around your neck,
making it easy to look at, in
case you forget who you are.
Perusing through a scrapbook
of my mother's I saw a picture
of Marion Hemingway Godkin
being crowned Miss Seaforth
Centennial (1955). She was
chosen from 11 entrants.
Marion has been invited to join
in the parade. Who were the
other 10 entrants? If you know,
leave the names at the store.
If you have a favourite friend
you'd like to take out of ircu-
c
lation for a few hours during
the reunion, `Crimestoppers'
are going to have a Jail-a-Thon
on August 4 and will accom-
modate you. I'll have more
details for June 28 column.
At our last meeting Carol
Anne got us 'pumped up' with
her words of wisdom and /
inspiration "Two months from f
tonight, it will be all over!"
