Education ATHLETICS WINNERS - Some of the top athletes at Seaforth District High School were recognized on Wednes- day night. They include (front row) Brian Bachert, Lindsey Seymour, Janette Wood, (second row) Lisa Reynolds, Christa Bennett, Karen Skea, Jason Murray, Marcy McCall, • TIM CUMMING PHOTO Erin Jamieson, Jeanette Denys, (back row) Amanda Denys, Amy Hamon, Sean Ludwig, Everett Smith, Bruce Griffin, Sarah Johnston, Carly Price, Chris Bach and Krista Greidanus. Murray, Price get top honours: Jason Murray and Carly Price were named Senior Athletes of the Year at the Seaforth Dis- trict High School Athletic Awards Achievement Night on May 31. Linda Doig presented the two student athletes with an award for three inter -scholastic sports for three years. Jason was also named Most Valuable Player in Boys' Soc- cer, Sr. Boys' Volleyball and Sr. Boys' Basketball. Carly earned the Ontario Student Leadership Camp award, win- ning the Most Consistent Player award for Senior Girls' Volleyball and sharing the MVP SeniorGirls' Basketball award with Sarah Johnston. The Junior Female Athlete of the Ycar was Christa Bennett and Junior Male Athlete of the Ycar was Bruce Griffin. Bruce was also named Most Valuable Player for Junior Boys' Volleyball. Christa was also winner of the Most Valu- able Player award for Junior Girls Bask.ball. Former Seaforth District High School teacher Brian O'Connell returned to the school to present the O'C Spirit Award to Sarah Johnston. Jean Pinder presented the Bill Pinder Memorial Award to Jeanette Denys for an unsung hero in the athletics program. The Brian O'Connell Intra- mural Award was pre cored to Lori Perrie. Vice Principal Eccles presented the Marywu, Weiler Award for Athletic and Aca- demic Excellence to Marcy 'McCall. The awards for General Ath- letic Contribution were awarded to Lindsay Seymour, Sarah Johnston and Karen Skea. The Bark Lake . award was presented to Suzanne Bennett and Clara Glauscr. Scan Ludwig won the Deb Dawson Sportsmanship Award from Jayne Walsh. He was also winner of the Most Valuable Player award for Junior Boys' basketball. Most Improved Athlete awards were presented by Jim Moore to Ian McKichan and Christina Harriston. The Brian Flanagan Memor- ial Award for Boys' Soccer went to Ian McKichan. The Girls' Soccer award for team leadership and desire went to Erin Jamieson. Most Enthusiastic Cheerleader was Becky Hunt. The award was presented by Brenda Mcnary. The Most Enthusiastic Tennis Player award was presented to Brian Bachert. Shaun Anstett was winner of the Boys' Low Gross award for golf. Track and field coach Terry Johnston presented Most Dedi- cated Track and Field awards to Janelle Wood and Everett Smith. Overall Male Curler winner was Chris Bach and Overall Female Curler was Krista Greidanus. Amanda Denys was winner of the Midget Girls Basketball Team Leadership and Enthusi- asm Award. The officer's name is Robert Trick and part of Mr. Trick's duties will be to patrol the Town of Seaforth and enforce the animal control by-law, particularly dogs running at Targe and dog tags. If you have a dog, it can be registered at the municipal office without penalty until June 16, 1995. After June 16th a $15.00 penalty will be added to the dog registration fee. Inc Most tnmusiastic Award for Midget Girls Vol- leyball went to Amanda Denys. The Midget Boys' basketball award went to Everett Smith. Championship awards were presented to Carly Price and Lori Perrie (for success at WOSSA). Huron -Perth cham- pionship awards were presented to Bruce Griffin, Carly Price, Lisa Reynolds and Amy Hamon. The students recalled their year in sports through a mov- ing video production showing slides of student athletes. Gail Price was named 'Fan of the Year', but a very honour- able mention also went to the Delaneys, who were devoted fans.
