Provincial Service Officer Mel Harper will be visiting the branch at 4:30 p.m. April 26 (today). Anyone wishing an appointment please call Legion President Larry Uyl 262- 2618. A Seniors Information Day, which is open to all, will be held in clinton, April 29 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Transportation available, lunch provided. Call Zone Seniors Officer Betty Simmons 262-2106 if inter- ested. April 29 a Dart Tournament will be held at Hensall Legion with registration at 1:30 p.m. Darts to start at 2 p.m. Hensall Legion will host Zone golfing, June 17. Donation of $100 each were made to Hensall Fair Board and to the Huron Middlesex Cadets. The Legion is pleased to announce one of their local cadets, Wayne Ingram is again going to England to participate in the Marks- man Competition with the Interna- tional team. The Legion was pleased to have as its guest, Zone Commander from Zone C-1, Gord DeJong of Seaforth. Nominations and elections were conducted by Comrad Dave Smale. Lawn ornaments found, not lost Are your lawn ornaments peppier than usual this spring? Perhaps you had better take a boo to see if they are still there. "rhe Seaforth Police Department reports it has some painted lawn ornaments in storage that were turned in as (bund property on April 7. But nobody has reported them missing. Police say they have no use for them and they are anxious to return all found property. Owners can claim the ornaments by properly identifying them and calling the local police at 527-1500 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Workers on strike at General Coach as offer rejected Workers at the General Coach plant in Hensall, under the water tower just off Highway 8 in Hensall, went on strike Friday. Members of Local 3054 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners gave their union a strike mandate with a vote April 13, and employees walked out when negotiations to reach a settlement broke down late last week. The company makes recreational vehicles and busses for the handicapped. It employs many people from Seaforth and area. The Legion is pleased to report one of the local students Ashley Erb, from Zurich, came in second in the Public Speaking - Storytelling at District Level. Rev. Henry Annen conducted Maundy Thursday service at Hensall United Church. Chuck Mallette was organist for the ser- vice. Communion was served by Lloyd Ferguson, Randy Parker, Rev. Henry Annen and Joanne Moir. A skit by Joanne Moir, Anne Annen and Matthew Martin was enjoyed and many hymns sung. The ushers were Raye Jacobe and Douglas Kyle. Easter Sunday at Hensall United Church was conducted by Rev. Henry Annen with Doug Klopp in charge of the ministry of song. Rev. Annen's message was "Reality, maps and rolling stones'. His Children's Story was "New life". Greeters were Evelyn and Larry Elder and family, Raye and Jean Jacobe and Doug and Sharon Keys ushered the worshipers. Recently he was at the Ontario Community Newspaper Association Convention in Toronto where he received the second place Feature Writing award for an article which appeared in The Expositor.
