St. Columban 4-H
club learns by doing
by JEREMY RYAN
The St. Columban 4-H Friends
learned how to sew buttons on
fabric at their meeting on Thurs-
day, April 6. The meeting
started with the 4-H pledge. The
secretary read the minutes from
the last meeting.. The club
formed into groups and talked
about the roll call. The 4-H
leaders talked about what group
members had to do at home.
She explained how to measure
shortening, flour and salt. Next
they split up in two groups, to
do sewing and cooking. In cook-
ing class they made shakem-up-
pudding. Dianne taught club
members how to sew hems and
how to sew buttons on fabric.
The meeting closed with the
league motto, "Learn to do by
doing." The next meeting is
Thursday, April 20 in the St.
Columban Church Basement.
