GENERAL MANAGER
The Huron Employment Liaison Project is an organization with the
goal of development employment opportunities in rural Huron
County.The Board of Directors requires a General Manager to orga-
nize and operate this community-based program.
The General Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operation of
the program under the direction of the Board of Directors. This will
include community training needs, supervision of staff/negotiating
independent contract worker's contracts, establishing and maintain-
ing good working relations with funders, local service providers, edu-
cators, employers and government, and the community at large; and,
responsibility for report submissions, obtaining and maintaining fund-
ing for the program.
The General Manager will have the following qualifications:
Completed post secondary educations in social services, education
or related fields or the equivalent experience; knowledge of local ser-

fundraising and policy developrfl '*tie ry s,
ence; financial management, budgeting and proposal writing; com-
munication skills with experience in public relations and working with
a volunteer board; solid understanding and experience with commu-
nity-based service delivery; and, strong management skills.
Familiarity with career/employment counselling programs.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience within the
$38,000 to $41,000 range. Anyone interested in this position should,

MERRIAM, Melvin Floyd, of Main St.,
Seaforth, passed away at his residence
on Wednesday, March 15, 1995 in his
86th year. Loving brother of Irene
Merriam, and Elsie Flanagan of London,
Arlen Merriam of Victoria, B.C.,
Clarence and Earl Merriam of London.
Also loved by several nieces and
nephews. Predeceased by his parents
Elijah S. Merriam and the former Amelia
May Dennis; one sister Florence Stroh
and by two brothers, Albert and Cecil
Merriam. Mel was a veteran of World
War 2, having served in the Royal
Canadian Navy from 1942 until 1945. At
Mel's request there was no funeral
home visitation or service. Cremation
with interment of ashes in Mt. Pleasant
Cemetery, London. Memorial donations
to the charity of one's choice would be
appreciated as expressions of
sympathy. Box and Smith Funeral
Chapel entrusted with
arrangements. As a
tribute to the life of Mr.
Merriam a tree will be
planted in his memory.
