Wannabees, Buds
close as season ends
There is only one week left in
the regular season for the Thurs-
day Nighters Bowling League. It
may come down to the last
game as no one can claim it
outright. It sure does make for
an exciting last night! On March
2 both the Wannabees and The
Buds had great big goose eggs
to allow the Brewers to stay
within reach.
Over on lanes one and two,
the Boozin's Brewers got seven
points while the Wannabees just
stood there. Bob Wright's 225;
Heather Alce's 178; Nancy Sue
Thomson's 273-618; Trevor
Price's 208 and Doug
Leonhardt's 216,380,257-853
were enough for the Brewers.
On the other hand, the
Wannabees' high bowler was
Steve Steep 247,266-702.
Murray's Marauders managed
to take two games and total pins
over the Wolverines. Bowling
great games for the Marauders
were Todd Doig 246,279-720;
Deb Bedard 236-590 and
Murray Bennewies 264,253,327-
844. The Wolverines got some
help from Karsten Carroll 192,
Don Brown 257 and Mike
Thomson 249,287-718.
The final match between The
Buds and the Falling Pins saw
The Buds falter under the pres-
sure of good bowling from the
Pins. Betty Coleman's 192-548;
Diana Steep's 184-525; Ralph
Johnston's 271, 214-669 and
Doug Procter's 245,211,202-658
were the best for the Falling
Pins. Leading the way for The
Buds were Patricia Schwarz 184
and Gary Bedard 220,222-635.
The Hi -Low Tournament
finished with a flourish with
some mighty high scores
coming from the finishers.
Ralph Johnston had a 271 but it
wasn't quite enough to catch
Doug Leonhardt's 380. Ralph
and his partner Bonnie Janmaat
were above their average +60,
while Doug and Jason Cooper
ended up with a +113. A fun
tournament to end the season
with. Keep up the great
bowling, everyone!
Team standings: Wannabees -
85; The Buds - 84; Boozin
Brewers - 80.5; Falling Pins -
76; Wolverines - 69.5; Murray's
Marauders - 67.
