Club tells how
to Tie-dye T -Shirts
BY JESSICA BURGESS
On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the
second meeting of the 'wearable
art' club was held at Joan
Stewart's home.
After the pledge was said, the
club discussed ideas for the
name of the club. Then, they
split into two groups, one who
wanted to tie-dye T-shirts, and
the other who wanted to paint
their wearable art. The tie-dye
group watched a video showing
how to tie-dye, while the other
group worked on examples of
fabric painting. Then the tie-dye
group dyed squares of fabric,
trying many different ways.
Instead of d3ing thcir.T-shirts as
planned, they decided to experi-
ment first and hold off the pro-
ject until next week. It was soon
learned that when dye gets on
something, it says on! After the
garment is dyed, it needs to
soak in the dye for about 15
minutes, then you need to hold
it under water until the water
runs clear. After that you should
dry it overnight. This 4-H club
teaches skills that are fun to
learn and wear.

Buds have eye
on first place
Thursday, Feb. 23 was another
exciting night of great bowling
at the Starlight Lanes for the
Thursday Nighters Bowling
League. There is just two weeks
left of regular bowling and then
playoffs start. The Hi -Low
Tournament only has a couple
of teams left. Wonder who they
could be!
The Buds just won't give up
on capturing the top of the
league. They took two games
and total pins from Murray's
Marauders on lanes one and two
Bowling super games for The
Buds were spare Lynn Dawe
219-523; Patricia Schwarz 208-
544; Gary Bedard 210,212,228-
650 and John Coleman
200.202,210-612. Todd Doig's

293-530; Deb Bedard's 210-572
and Murray Bennewies'
200,250,246-696 were great, but
not good enough to overtake
The Buds.
The Wannabees did a bit of
drowning and the Falling Pins
didn't even throw them a rope.
The Pins tidal waved right over
the Wannabees 7-0. Great scores
came from Betty Coleman 189;
Diana Steep 230-614; Ralph
Johnston 262,212,221-695 and
Doug Procter 204,208,217-629
for the Falling Pins. The
Wannabees saw wonderful
games from Stan Mailloux 206-
216; Sandra Klaver 181-503;
Tracy Klaver 213-575; Pat Ryan
182; Brian Barry 207 and Steve
Steep 208,210-617.
Over on lanes five and six,
The Wolverines and the
Boozin's Brewers ended up with
the same total pinfall. We don't
see that happen very often. The
Brewers took two games while
the Wolverines only took one.
Sharri MacDonald's 243-580
and Doug Leonhardt's 228,292,
367-887 were the best for the
Brewers. On the other hand, the
Wolverines were led by Sue
Alce 209-543, Jason Wheatley
203, Connie Trotter 250-597 and
Mike Thomson 200,277-655.
Team standings: Wannabees -

A POEM DEDICATED TO
OLD JOHN VAN DOOREN
Do real men tum 40? I know some eat

But, out there you can find some men on
a leash!
So what happens to men who ain't 39?
Probably playing hockey, so they can
whine -
My knees hurt (they're knobby),
My head's cold (it's less hairy),
Attention all women, when they turn 40,
be wary!
So, John, on March 6 when you ain't 39,
Come visit a real woman and then you'll
be fine.
