WINE ANO QNEESE DOWER
This shower proves to be
a good way to stock the
wedding couple's bar.
Find out if the couple's
preference runs to red or
white wines, and ask each
guest to bring two gift
bottles of the same wine.
One is gift -wrapped, with a
gift card attached.
The other is used for the
wine -tasting activity. Since
wine is not a lasting gift,
guests may wish to bring
an additional, wine -related
item. Possible selections
include a carafe, a
corkscrew, a wine -making
kit of a good wine book.
Planning this shower
around the cocktail hour
should be enough to lure
your guests. But if you feel
the need for more
enticement, how about
designing a mock wine
label invitation?
Bring on each wine and
cheese selection as a set,
one set at a time. Rinse
glasses between tastings.
For refreshment variety,
also serve crusty French
bread or crackers with
fresh fruit slices.

Selecting the dress that flatters you best .
Once you have determined
the price and formality of the
gown, you will want to find
one to flatter your figure.
Here are some suggestions
to help you find the perfect
dress:
• If you're short (under 514")
a high neckline with an
empire waist will make you
look taller, as will a short- or
long-sleeved dress with long
gloves.
The veil should not be
longer than floor- or chapel -
length.
• If you're tall (over 5'9"), a
drop waist with a wide belt
and trim or ruffles that wrap
around the dress will take
away the 'all -legs' look.
Off -the -shoulder, low
necklines with billowy
sleeves are also good.
Hata or dramatic
veiling are
striking and
will not
overpower
you.
• If
you're
average
height
and
weight
(5'6" to
5'8"),
you're
lucky and
can get away
with almost
anything you'd
like. You may want
to select something
which makes you look either
shorter or taller, depending
on the groom's height.
• If you're
slender, you're
the one
everyone
envies.
You
can add a
few
pounds
by
selecting
a
heavier
fabric
such as
velvet,
satin or
moire.
Choose a
blowsier bodice
with a gathered
waist and narrow

sleeves.
• If you're heavy, you'll want
to aim for a slimming effect
with a high waistline or an
A-line dress with vertical
lines.
Stay away from lacy
ruffles, clingy fabrics and
puffed sleeves.
• If you're large -busted, a V-
shaped
shaped or high neckline with
a keyhole yoke is usually the
most flattering.
Avoid empire or cinched
waists, as they accentuate
large breasts.
• If you have wide hips, this
common problem can be
disguised with a flared skirt
or A-line dress.
The wide bottom may be
balanced by a broad collar,
puffed sleeves or a hat.
