Tim Jacobs, a Goderich area photographer, says, "it is not uncommon for plans to be made up to a year in advance, if you want to guarantee yourself of a date. "Some appointments are -even made further ahead than that, but most people don't give an awful lot of notice." Jacobs says that he receives calls at this time of year for June weddings. - "Sure they will get a photographer, although it may not be the photographer of their choice," he sans. Jacohs differs from other photographers in the county. He - also points out that different photographers offer different levels of service. It is preferable for some of the pictures to he taken at an outdoor location. "Natural backgrounds can make for some interesting photography," he says. If an outdoor location can't be found, Jacobs will make every attempt to find a suitable location for the bride and groom to use. "In just about every wedding, something unique or unplanned happens. Sometimes they are photographic delights and sometimes they're just a laugh." Photographic services around Huron County can range from $2(1(1 and up, says Jacohs . . "I would like to take more time and take fewer photographs, to get better quality photographs," he said. The difference in photo format will have an effect on the price of a package. For example, 35mm film will provide good pictures at a 5x7 or 8x10 size, but professional format will give better quality, larger portraits. The professional format has an increased price because of processing costs. Jacobs offers the following guidelines to brides and grooms. • Make sure you see some of the photographers' work. •Ask to see enlargements. •If possible look at one or two of the photographers' proof books. "The proof is in the proof book," says Jacobs. • Sign a contract, but also read the contract over carefully, in terms of copyright and copyright infringement •Make sure to have a budget in • mind. •Book in advance, as much as possible. • Shop around. •Ask the photographer what format he/she shoots in, either 35mm or professional. •A good photographer should be flexible in the service provided. • Remember; you get what you pay for.
