to championships

em Region at the 1995 Provincial.

in Sudbury March 14 - 20.
The team of 14 and 15 year olds
qualified for the provincial cham-
pionships by winning the Western
Region Preliminary tournament held
this past weekend in St. Jacobs and
Elmira.
Seaforth defeated Woolwich 6-5
in an exciting, fast -paced champion-
ship game Sunday afternoon. The
Stingers found themselves down by
a score of 5-2 with only nine min-
utes left in the game but managed
to rebound and score four unan-
swered goals in the final minutes.
The team will compete against six
other regional representatives from
across the Province at the Ontario
Championships.
1"he Stingers will be initiating a

Coyne, Julianne Crowley, Jane
Crowley, Amiee deVries, Erin
Siemon, Michele Tyndall, Ericka

SOCIALITES 2 - WINTHROP 1
Socialites stir up 'turmoil' as they
defeat Winthrop. The Socialites will
put this in their record book of wins
which seems to be happening more
often this year! Socialites' goal
scorers were Jen Marion and Susan
McLahlan. I'm sure they had a little
difficulty removing their helmets.
The girls thank Sandra Hunt for the
pass. I bet it was all those 'good -
luck Hearts' from Betty Boops
celebrating her birthday. Hang in
there, Winthrop, there's always
next week. Their lone goal was
scored by Sandra Mclnally, assist-
ance from Tammy Nash and Pam
Dale. Good game by both teams.
Miss Hadenk000 better invest in a
'suit of armor' so she doesn't hurt
her 'Bod' for Provincials.
PARR LINE 4 - PERTH 0
Perth always has plenty of get up
and go but just a little short on the
goal scoring. Parr Line nabs two
goals in the first half and two in the
second half. Goals scored by Cheryl
Kruse, Glenda Chaput, Bev. Shea
and Sue Ellen great passing put
forth by Sandi Fremlin and Norah
Eckert.
GRADS 1 ot - DUMPERS 1 ot
The Grads start the ball rolling as
they play only a minute into the
game and Al Wynja shoots and
scores unassisted. The Dumpers are
very patient and wait for the right
moment and finally Bill Dale
breaks down centre ice and deaks
the opposing goalie and pops the
ball into the right hand corner of
the net, back up came from Jerry
Wright.

EASY RIDERS 4
PARR LINE 1
Parr Line played a hard game
man -on -man but could only score
once as Paul Gibbings scores a
superb goal which from the angle
his shooting was almost impossible
to score from but he proves it
wrong, a great quick pass from
buddy Verne Thompson. An awe-
some goal, Paul! Easy Rider Eckert
Jr. clears the path with no help
needed and scores two big goals, in
the background for singles are Jerry
Zwep and Ed Van Miltenburg great
passes from Jim Butson and Terry
Morey.
WINTHROP 1 - ROYALS 0
Well, the Royals had ample
chances to score but the people
shooting seem to have a mean
curve in their brooms and shoot
wide of an open net! However!
Winthrop were luck y to get a
single goal as their strategy in pas-
sing seemed to get interrupted every
time. Single goal was scored by
Steve Knight and assistance from
Blaine Marks and Doug Campbell.
RAIDERS 2 - RUSTLERS 1
For the Rustlers quick Rick Elliott
leans over a little and sweeps the
ball into the net and little help came
from Art Veenstra and Jeff
Burroughs. Is• this the real Raiders
in their new wardrobe of yellow
jerseys which seems to bring them
luck (better get 11,- v team cojor). If
it works! Why not!!! Both Raiders
goals were scored by speedy Derek
MacDonald not bad passing by
Dave Drainers and Toby Phillips -
Great game fellas!

Wannabees hard to bump from first
The Thursday Nighters Bowling
League season is drawing nearer to
the end and the Wannabees are
making it very hard for everyone,
but there is still that chance for a
few of the teams. On Feb. 16, the
bowling league was still seeing
some very high scores from bow-
lers.
Over the lanes 1 and 2, The Fall-
ing Pins took two games and total
pins from the Boozin' Brewers.
Bowling excellent games for the
Pins were: Ingrid Doig 184; Diana
Steep 203-508; Ralph Johnston
243,227-667 and Doug Procter 204.
The Brewers were led by Bob
Wright 244; Nancy Sue Thomson
264-610 and Doug Leonhardt
212,207,274-793.
The Buds managed to stay within
striking distance of the top by tak-
ing a couple of games from the
Wolverines. Helping out The Buds
were: spare Terry Gray
270,261,220-751; Patricia Schwarz
191-544; Gary Bedard 206 and
John Coleman 301,218-691. Karsten
Carroll's 234; Sue Alce's 197,202-
545 and Don Brown's 203 were the
best that the Wolverine's could
muster.
Showing the rest of the league
that they are the team to reckon
with, the Wannabees swept
Murray's Marauders for all 7
points. Top scorers for the
Wannabees were: Sandra Klaver
239,214-605; Tracy Klaver
194,218-568; Pat Ryan 191; Brian
Barry 208,206,221-635 and Steve

had some great games. There was
Todd Doig's 299-635; Bonnie
Janmatt's 240-529; Deb Bedard's
223-545; Erich Matzold's 204 and
Murray Bennewies' 229,232,309-
770.
The Hi -Low Tournament only has
two weeks left, so the remaining
teams need to keep on bowling
excellent game to stay in. Still
hanging in there for another week
are Todd Doig and Karsten Carroll
+172.
Team Standings: Wannabees - 85;
The Buds - 79; Boozin Brewers -
69; Wolverines - 65; Falling Pins -

IT'S WINTER SPORTS SEASON
... but not for long!
It may seem like the winter sports season has just
begun, but it won't be long until teams end their year
with thoughts of spring and baseball and
soccer. Sometimes, the team has already disbanded
when some parent or coach realizes, "We didn't have
a picture taken!" Before you wrap up your season'of
hockey, ringette or other winter sports..make sure you
arrange to have a photo taken for The Huron
Expositor's popular Sports edition. You can borrow
black and white film from the newspaper, take a colour
photo with your own camera or have a professional
photographer take a picture of your team. Just be sure
to submit the photo to The Huron Expositor (with names listed underneath) by the dead-
line of Friday, April 21st by 5 p.m. If you are unable to make these arrangements, con-
tact a member of The Huron Expositor sports news team to have a photo taken for the
edition. We would like to include all local winter sports teams, but this is only possible
with your co-operation. Thanks for your hel.!
