Employees of the local hospital and their children enjoyed a multitude of activities such as snow sculpting, tobogganing on Nixon's Hill, cross-country skiing, various snow games, hot dogs and even hotter chocolate. The children pose around one of their creations, a dinosaur, in this photograph. Another snow sculpture called "Watch Out For the Snow Sharks", was completed later by Diegel Inc. Brewers nip Buds in Thursday league On Jan. 26, the Thursday Nighters Bowling League added a High -Low tournament to their regular season. Off to a great start in the tournament were Gary Bedard and Mary Wynja +103 and Stan Mailloux and Bob Wright +84. The Falling Pins took two games and total pins over Murray's Marauders on lanes one and two. Top bowler for the Marauders was Murray Bennewies 248,213,256-717, Deb Procter 299-666; Ralph Johnston 224; Diana Steep 237- 554 and Ingrid Doig 189. On the middle lanes, The Buds got nipped by the Boozin Brewers when the Brewers took all the points for the night. John Coleman's . 216-607 and Gary Bedard's 208,229-627 just weren't enough for The Buds. The Brewers got fantastic games from Doug Leonhardt 239,283,241-763; Trevor Price 204; Nancy Sue Thomson 297- 650 and Bob Wright 231-637. The final match -up of the night saw the Wolverines take five points and the Wannabees only two points. Bowling for the Wannabees were Steve Steep 202,205; Brian Barry 282-607 and Sandra Klaver 185. The Wolverines got some help from Mike Thomson 228,233,232- 693. Team Standings: The Buds - 70; Wannabees - 66; Boozin Brewers - 60; Wolverines - 54; Falling Pins - 54; Murray's Marauders - 53. TIM CUMMING PHOTO WATER FOR AWARENESS - Members of the UniPres Youth Group (from First Presbyterian Church in Seaforth and Egmondville United Church) walked 3 km to get a bucket of water and walked back with the water as part of a world development awareness week on Sunday. The young people received pledges for the relief and development efforts of the Christian Children's Fund of Canada. Legion holds awards dinner The Honours and Awards Dinner of Seaforth Legion Branch 156 is being held on Feb. 11. There will be an initiation of new members during the evening as well as presentation of awards. There will be a Stag Euchre Wednesday Feb. 1 (tonight). The regular monthly meeting of the Auxiliary is also tonight, Feb. 1. Executive meeting is Feb. 9 and the general meeting will be on Feb. 16. During the Seaforth Homecoming the Branch is holding 'The Old Seaforth Legion by Barbara Scott c Fashioned Hoedown' featuring "The Guse Family'. Tickets for this event are on sale at the Branch. 'At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remem- ber them.' Robbie Burns' Day enjoyed Robbie Burns' Day was cel- ebrated in fine style this past week at Seaforth Manor Nursing Home. Rev. James Sloan provided a won- derful slide show of his trip to Scotland. Following the show Scot- tish shortbread was served. Resi- dents also were treated to a special Scottish menu for the day. Rev. Bruce Cook conducted a lovely communion service for the resi- dents. Thanks go to Florence Carter for providing music for the hymns.
