HURON HOSTS WINTER GAMES - Darrel Eckert, of the Huron County Junior Farmers, leaps into the
air while fellow players, including Ross McIntosh of the Seaforth area, look on. The volleyball competition
was part of the Junior Farmers' Association of Ontario Zone 7 Winter Games which were hosted by
Huron this year. Teams from Perth, Bruce and Grey came to Huron to compete.
LOCAL SCOREBOARD
Beginning Thursday simplified Huron Expositor "Scoreboard"
forms and drop boxes will be available at the newspaper and
prominently located in the front lobby of the Seaforth and District
Community Centres. This will enable us to get the results from any
game sheets, particularly away games hat do not pass by
Recreation Director Marty Bedard's desk every Monday morning.
These "Scoreboard" forms won't require much time and effort
from managers or coaches to fill out. You won't have to be
Shakespeare. Just the basics are required - who, what, when and
where- legibly printed, first names and last. Deadline for inclusion
in the coming week's paper will be Mondays at noon. Late reports
will not be used the following week. Anybody with constructive
comments or suggestions can call Gregor Campbell at the Expositor
office at 527-0240. Whalers 3 Sharks 3

WINTHROP 1 - PARR LINE 0
Parr Line hit goal posts, cross
bars and even a few shins but no
goals. Winthrop is on cloud nine as
they score the only goal for the win
as Barb Elliott drills the ball into
the net, keen passing from Tammy
Kennedy and Patti Brulotte.
PER'T'H 1 - SOCIALITES 0
Socialites arc so kind and con-
siderate to let Perth score a superb
goal as Perth's Wendy Ticrostra
shoots from blue line and scores,
assistance from Kathy Butson and
Beth Consist. I guess the Socialites
figured it was Perth's turn to win.

EASY RIDERS 5 - ROYALS 0
The Royals played well but
seemed to fan on the net. Easy
Riders go over board with goals as
they hustled their butts to the ball
this game. Goals by swinging Jim
Butson, cool elan Darrel Eckert,
smoothie Ed .Van Miltcnburg and
he-man Jcff Hoelscher. Lots of
passes from Jeff Allen, Greg
McPherson and Rob McGregor and
let's not forget Mr. 'T' Morey.
WINTIIROP 5 - RAIIjDERS 0
Raiders couldn't buy a goal if
they tried. Maybe next week, boys,
you'll have better luck. Winthrop
had steam first half seemed to die
in the second half. Gouts by, yes!
can you believe `Mr. B. Pryce'
himself, Steve Knight, Jerry
Bremner, also our Scott Leonhardt
can hit the net for a sure goal.
Great passing by 'Toast' Marks,
Mike Thomas, Warren Knight and
Dave Lconhardt.
PARR LINE 2 - KNIGHTS 0
The Knights had most of the
game as Jim Nycnhuis shoots and
scores first goal. Parr Line men
come back with two quick goals
scored by mighty Ed Salverda and
speedster Mark Krahn, great back
up from Paul Gibbings, Adrian
Salverda and Steve Gibbings.

Nice work, Perth Ladies. Goal
scored by Liz Becker super pass by
one of our juvenile players, Heather
McMillan - Looks like Hadenk0000
was resting on the sidelines.
Winthrop takes a spurt of energy
and away they go as goals were
scored by Barb Elliott and Tammy
Nash, and two keen goals by Donna
Arts, quick passes from Sandra
McInally and Deb Murray.
PARR LINE 3 • SOCIALITES 0
Socialites still had plenty of cheer
from New Years as their laughter
from there bench showed they all
were in good 'spirits'! O.K., Parr
Line women are awake now as they
pop in three quick goals in the first
half and seem to doze off in the
second half. Goals were scored by
'shy' Frem, 'Boots' Innes, quick
draw "Sufic", quiet passing from
"Bobber" Wilson, 'Tufty' Chaput,
the "wanderea' Kruse, bashful
'Stella'•.

THE HURON EXPOSITOR, January 18, 1995-9
loss in nine games
...but tighten grip on fourth place
The Seaforth Centenaires grabbed
a firmer grip on fourth place by
taking throe of a possible six points
in a busy weekend as the tight race
in the Western Division of the
Ontario Hockey Association's
Junior "D"evelopment League`
enters its final month.
They ran out of legs and lost their
first game since the middle of
December, 4-1 to the Lancers
Sunday night at Lambeth, after
battling back to tie the Hawks 5-5
at Exeter Saturday, itself in the
wake of a 4-2 win over the Mt.
Brydges Bulldogs Friday night at
Seaforth.
Meanwhile the Belmont Bombers,
who are right behind the Seaforth
Juniors in the standings, lost all
three weekend starts to remain five
points behind them. The
Centenaires continue to trail third-
place Exeter by a point, although
those Hawks have two games m
hand.
With seven games remaining, next
weekend should tell the tale if the
Cents have a realistic shot at third.
They host the league -leading Port
Stanley Lakers, the only team
Seaforth hasn't beaten yet this
campaign, Friday night at 8:30.
Then they go head to head with
Exeter again Sunday night at 8 p.m.
at the Seaforth and District
Community Centres. Seaforth has
won one, lost one and tied two
against Exeter so far this season.
Injuries, their third game in three
nights and the fact the Cents
couldn't use their Local affiliates
who were also in action, meant
Seaforth played tired and
shorthanded Sunday night in
Lambeth. It showed. They
managed a mere 18 shots on net
and only spoiled Lancer goaltender
Jon Finlay's shutout bid with 1:50
left in the game when Jason Hayter
tapped home the puck from a goal
mouth scramble, assisted by Jason
Dunseith and Steve McInally.
It snapped an eight -game
unbeaten run and was the first loss
fqr the Cents since Dec. 16 when
Selmotit •doubled them 8-4 in
eaforth.
Saturday night Seaforth trailed the
Hawks 4-2 for much of the second
period before mounting a
comeback, capped by Hayter's
powerplay goal at 11:56 of the
third, with Chris Kennedy in the
box, that tied it. It was a sluggish
game on both sides, unusual for
these fierce rivals who usually go at
each other with more intensity.
Mike Lauwaert, Tim Barton, Greg
Matthison and Jeff Flanagan, also
scored for the Centenaires.
Friday night at Seaforth and
District Community Centres in front
of a healthy throng of about 200,
the Centenaires jumped into a 3-0
lead by the first five minutes of the
second period. Dunseith, Tim
Barton, Terry Barton and Chad
Ramer scored the goals for the
locals, - and goaltender Tim Swan
recorded his third -straight victory.
Defenceman Chris Stevenson of
Walton and forward Brandon
Corriveau of Goderich have decided
