Farm workshop
focuses on
'fertility'
Dr. Jay Johnston, a soil science
researcher and farm extension
worker from Ohio State Univer-
sity, is the keynote speaker for
the Jan. 24 meeting called
`Focus on Fertility' workshop.
Dr. Johnston will address Ferti-
lizer Recommendations - The
American Way.
Some interesting and long
debated fertility topics round out
the practical day: adding sulphur
to boost protein, foliar fertilizer,
liquid versus dry fertilizers,
micro nutrients, calcium and
manure as a nutrient source.
A farmer panel will add some
tried and true experience with
their stories about fertility on
their farms.
Farmers and industry personnel
can register with any Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture, Food
and Rural Affairs office in the
area. The program runs from
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will
be held at the Lucan Community
Centre.
Crop updates at
Blyth meeting
Crop Production and Market-
ing Updates will be the focus of
a meeting at the Blyth Commun-
ity Centre on Thursday, Jan. 26,
beginning at 9:45 a.m.

OMAFRA to hire
summer youth
workers
The Leadership and Organiz-
ation Development of the
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture,
Food and Rural Affairs
(OMAFRA) is accepting applica-
tions for three summer positions.
Two college or university
students will be hired as Youth
Leadership Conference
Coordinators to organize and
lead numerous 4-H leadership
conferences throughout the prov-
ince. Applicants should have
excelldit recreation leadership
skills, contagious enthusiasm and
proven ability to successfully
relate to teenagers. One student
will be hircd as a 441 Resource
Summer Assistant. This will
required researching, writing and
proofing of resources for youth
and volunteers. Applicants must
have excellent writing and edit-
ing skills and ability to work
independently and meet dead-
lines. Knowledge of the 441
program and teaching techniques
would be beneficial for both
positions.
If you arc interested in either
of the above job opportunities,
call the OMAFRA office in
Fergus to obtain more informa-
tion and an application form.
Deadline for applications to be
submitted is Jan. 27, 1995.
Milk committee to
hold meeting
The annual meeting of the
Huron County Milk ComMittee
takes place on Feb. 22 at the
Brussels Legion.

Hospital Auxiliary installs executive
The Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary
meeting was held on Tuesday, Jan.
10 in conference room 2 at Scaforth
Cornmunity Hospital at 8 p.m.
President Margaret M. Mennell
opened the meeting and welcomed
everyone and the auxiliary prayer
was recited in unison.
Marjorie Rock gave the roll call,
and gave a very interesting report
on the year's activities.
Frances R. Teatero, chairperson of
Region Two of the Hospital
Auxiliary Association of Ontario
installed the new executive and
committees for 1995.
Reports were given and approved.
Dorothy Hays, Fundraising
chairperson, gave the fundraising
activities projects for the coming
year.
Frances R. Teatero gave a report
on the Tree of Lights which proved
very successful with a net profit of
53,845. The proceeds will be used
for equipment for Seaforth
Community Hospital. The
organ/piano has arrived and this
•a� purchased by the Memorial
Fund.
Margaret M. Mennell reported for
the Recreational Committee. The
Seaforth Home coming Aug. 3 - 6,
1995, is with the theme 'Alt Roads
Lead to Scaforth'.
Kay Mailloux reported 41 baby.

Auxiliary in 1994 at Seaforth
Community Hospital.
Shirley Dinsmore gave a report of
the Huron Hosbice.
The mccting adjourned and a
social half hour spent.
