Changes to local C
Cable television subscribers in the
Mitchell and Seaforth area will
have already noticed a slight change
of channels, with another set to take
place once the calendar changes for
another year.
Mitchell-Seaforth Cable TV Gen-
eral Manager Dan Harmer said as
of Jan. 1, 1995, the local cable
outlet will have to drop CMT, or
Country Music Television, from
their service based on new CRTC
regulations issued last week.
In its place, on channel 14 on the
cable package, will be a new coun-
try music station called NCN, or
the New Country Network, a simi-
lar station but instead of it showing
country music videos based in the
United States, will have the usual
Canadian content since it is a Cana-
dian network. "
Stoll has high
hand in lawn
bowling euchre
The Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club
hosted their December euchre at the
Orange Hall on December 27 with
seven tables in play. Prizes were
given to - Ladies High - Beatrice
Stoll; Ladies lone hands - Velma
Preszcator; Ladies low - Viola
Glanville; Men's high - Ken
Preszcator; Men's lone hands - Jack
Muir, Men's low - Fred Glanville.
The next euchre will be held on
January 24 at 8 p.m. and hostess'
will be Neil and Edna Bell, Olive
Papple and Beatrice Stoll.
Happy New Year to all.
able TV service
The other change you may have
noticed is the switch from a Detroit
CBS affiliate to a now affiliate
based out of Toledo, Ohio. Harmer
said the station has very similar
programming to the Detroit station
(channel 25), but will have Toledo -
based news and other local pro-
gramming.
He said the switch was necessi-
fated when the CBS station out of
Detroit changed over to FOX, so in
order to rill the CBS need, sub-
scribed to the nearest affiliate,
which was out of Toledo.
Speaking of FOX, Harmer said he
thinks its a distinct possibility that
Mitchell/Seaforth subscribers will
see that network added to their
cable package in the near future.
Harmer did say that the cable
station is undergoing many techno-
logical changes, including the
installation of fibre optic under-
ground cable, which will improve
the service by this time next year.
