Winthrop shuts out Perth
in Ladies' broomball action
LADIES BROOMBALL
November 16, 1994
'WINTHROP 4 - PERTH 0
Perth Ladies had the potential but
no goals. Look! Winthrop Ladies'
Janice Finlayson gets a 'Hat Trick'.
This is the real Janice. 'Wee Barbie
contributes to a single goal. In the
background offering help is Tammy
Nash, Diane Anderson, Deb
Murray, Donna Arts, Sandra
Mclnally and Pam "Dale. Our
deepest sympathy goes out to Janet
and the families from the Seaforth
and Egmondville Men's and Ladies'
Broomball teams.
GRADS 3 - EASY RIDERS 2
Grads start going ahead in goals
in the second half of the game,
goals by Raymond Ruston and
Martin Wynja direct passing from
Mac O'Neil, Craig Smith, Al
Wynja and Tony Van Den Huevel.
The Riders first goal scored by a
one hand swing crossed over and
flipped into the net by Jim Butson.
Hey only one second left and Jeff
Allen did the courtesy thing and put
the ball directly into the net quick
pass from Rob McGregor. Great
game guys, as it could have went
either way.

WINTHROP 3
RED RUSTLERS 1
The Rustlers' Earl Flynn shoots
from blue line and the opposing
team player tips the shot directly
into the top corner of the net, a
superb goal unassisted. However,
the Winthrop team cleaned up with
three quick goals, scored by Mike
Thomas, Dwayne Pryce and Steve
Knight. Keen passing by Bruce
Pearn, Jerry Bremner, Scott
Leonhardt, sly Blaine Marks.
PARR LINE 1 - ROYALS 0
The Royals out played, out shot
but did not out score in this game.
These guys worked hard to keep it
at this low margin, great perform-
ance by the Royals. The winning
goal was scored Mark Krahn for
Pan Line men.
DUMPERS 12 - RAIDERS 1
Raiders are quite pleased to score
at least one goal against the
Dumpers. To make 'Mr. Young'
look like a sieve (ha ha Colin).
Dumpers have lots of hat tricks by
Brett Finlayson, John Cairns also,
singles go out too Gary Dill, Ron
Pryce, Dale Kennedy, Frank
Verberne and Dennis Murray.
Raiders goalie had so many shots
on him it was unbelievable.

Ringers defend title at
Forest .Ringette tournament
On the weekend the Seaforth
Novice Ringers defended their title
in the annual Forest Ringette tour-
ney. The Ringers handily won the
first game 8-2, later beating
Stratford 9-1. Goals and assists by
Shannan Brooker, Suzanne
Coleman, Courtney Fischer, Kayla
Flanagan, Mary Finlayson, Nicole
Kistner, Erin Van Dooren, Amanda
Van Miltenburg, Randi Wilson,
Kim Van Miltenburg, Jenny
Phillips, Brette Deitz, and Monica
Eckert.
In the medal game the ringers
took on the hot Exeter squad.
Nicole Kistner opened the scoring
with a nice pass from Sharman
Brooker. Exeter came back to tip it
up. Mary Finlayson hustled to pop
one in for Seaforth with help from
Jenny Phillips. Exeter evened it up
ag•i ' with only 1:50 left in the
game. The coaches were pacing
when . of the sudden mighty
Shannon :rooker flipped a quick
shot past the Exeter goalie with
only 12 seconds remaining. Our
awsome goalie for the game Erin
Van Dooren made and outstanding
save in the final seconds to keep
Seaforth in the game. The final
score was 3-2.
The Ringers defended a well-
earned gold medal because of their
hustle, keen passing and superb
back -checking. Way to go, girls!
The coaches congratulate you all on
a great day of ringette!
