battle. Other Dieppe medals will be awarded to the survivors of
former Seaforth residents John Taylor, Lt. Col. MacTavish and
John Holland, all now deceased.

Senior girls basketball
handily defeats Clinton
The past week has definitely
involved all the sports teams at
Seaforth District High School. The
Junior and Senior volleyball teams
travelled to St. Marys on Nov. 8 for
the annual WOSSA qualifier. The
other teams involved were Mitchell
and St. Marys. The juniors, despite
this being their last day of
volleyball in the 1994 season, still
did not manage to pull off any
stunning victories. The boys faced
some very stiff competition and lost
two games to each tcam. The team
did not have a very successful year
but they all played hard and
hopefully teamed something. The
members on the team were Bruce
Griffin, Derek Smith, Sean Ludwig,
Shane MacPhec, Arad Hocgy, Karl
Reynolds, Brent Ribcy, Brent
Prycc, Jon Bjcrg, Everett Smith,
Mark Phillips, Barry Medd and
Coach, Mr. Sherwood.
The senior's season lasted only
two days longer as they had
qualified for Huron/Perth. At
Huron/Perth ' they faced Stratford
Central, Mitchell and South Huron.
The boys played the best against
Stratford Central. Although they
lost all their games, there were
definitely, signs of improvement.
The tcam members were Toby
Philips, Derek McDonald, Scott
Leonhardt, Steve Leonhardt, Steve
Mclnally, Dylan Wick, Matt Lee,
Darren Hemingway, Luke
McMillian, Jason Murray, Brian
Bachert and coach James Sampa.
The girls' basketball teams were
much more successful with both the
junior and senior teams playing in
the semi-finals at home on Friday,
November 11, 1994. The seniors
faced Clinton first and won quite
handily. Sarah Johnston and Carly
Price both had more than 15 points.
The Juniors on the other hand
played F.E. Madill to a tie when the
buzzer went off; however F.E.
Madill had a shot in the air. The
shot went through the rim only to
be called off by the second referee
but the first referee had seen the
shot differently and called the
basket well. The girls lost a
heartbreaker and were eliminated
from the Huron/Perth finals.
The seniors play against Goderich
at home at Wednesday, Nov. 16 for
the Huron/Perth final. The school
will be going crazy as Mr. Moore
has granted the well-behaved
students at S.D.H.S. a short day.
They would also like to thank Mr.
Price for doing such a great job on
the floor.
