"I was kept back again and sent out to work on a farm for two months as the farmers were realty in trouble for them," said the World War I veteran. "There were four men working on the farm where I went and three of us were soldiers." In. February again he was called back and sent out to Belgium to Antwerp where they were given the job of clearing guns off the battle- fields and loading on ship for Eng- land. The ships were bringing sup- plies for the army of occupation in Germany and they had to guard them on their way up there to Ger- many as there was a lot of looting going on. They loaded the guns on their ships on their way back to England, 1 imagine to Harwich. I was there 'til November 1919. Soldiers were being demobilized all through 1919, first in first out and he was one of the latecomers. "I was near the last."
