We owe great debt to veterans Dear reader, 'Inside these pages you will find the names of some of those people who served the cause of Victory in World Wars I and 11, the Korean War and in other military service. Some soldiers died in battle or have died since the wars ended. Other service men and women are alive today. If you see one of these men or women on the street, thank them. We owe them a great debt. Looking at the pictures of the young servicemen one realizes the young men we sent to fight in the wars didn't look much older than boys. If this book of memories inspires you to know more about our veterans take the opportunity t4 visit thq. Legion Branch 156 museum where you will find even more about our area veterans. Working from several lists we have attempted to include as many veterans' names as poss- ible, from Seaforth or connected to Seaforth, in this edition. Many residents have also graciously submitted contemporary and war -time photos as well as brief stories. Many of these stories were hand-written and we have carefully proofread the stories to avoid errors...but if mistakes have inadvertently been made we apologize. A comprehensive history of veterans connected to Seaforth would fill hundreds of pages. We hope, however, that this edition will form a small part of 111c historical record of those who contributed to the war efforts. Although this Remem- brance Day and Legion Branch 156 Anniversary edition can only r. include some of our vet- erans...we feel that each one should be honoured. As we approach the 50th anni- versary of the end of World War 11 veterans or their families are encouraged to submit photos and stories to The Huron Expositor for inclusion in upcoming edi- tions of the newspaper. Veterans are also encouraged to submit their photos to the impressive photographic record being compiled by veteran Frank Phillips. Gratitude must be expressed to Frank in his efforts to compile the military history of Legion Branch 156. In closing we would like to thank all those who took time to make submissions to this edition. Please do your part to remem- ber the contributions made by your service men and women. To our area veterans...we are in your debt. Yours sincerely, Tim Cumming, Editor through when asked. They should not be overlooked. I personally feel honoured to be part of a legion who work so hard for the good of community betterment.
