IN MEMORIAM 1 / BEUERMAN: in loving memory of a dear husband Alvin who passed away, 3 years ago, Nov. 18, 1991. Your resting place I visit, Place flowers there with loving care, But no one knows the heartache, When I tum and leave you there. A million times I've needed you, A million times I've cried, If love could have saved you, You never would have died, I love you in a very special way, 111 could have one lifetime wish One dream that could come true, I'd pray to God with all my heart, For yesterday and you. It broke my heart to lose you, But you didn't go alone, Part of me went with you, The day God called you home. Some say that time heals everything, But I know that isn't so, Because it hurts as much today, As it did 3 years ago. All my love from wife Hazel. 46-45x1 47. CARDS OF THANKS 1 PARR LINE LADIES BROOMBALL We would like to thank all those who supported us by attending our old fashioned breakfast. Special thariks to Stu, Olive, Charlie, Bob and Jeff of the Brucefield Fire Department for their time, equipment and expertise. - Parr Line Ladies Broomball Team 47-45x1 ROE The families of the late Selina May Roe wish to express their sincere gratitude to all who expressed sympathy and support in their recent bereavement. Donations and floral tributes were greatly appreciated. Thanks also to doctors, ministers and funeral personnel. We especially want to thank the staff and management of Maplewood Manor for their generous help in caring for May and in providing assistance to family members during her illness. 47-45-1 RONEY I would like to thank the Hibbert United Church ladies for the lovely gifts. Brent and I will put them all to good use. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. - Susan Roney 47-45xlcc TABBERT - To our hosts Bob and Donna and all those who were a part of the so -long party held on October 22nd, we would like to say Thank You. The gift we were presented is proudly displayed in our home in Nithburg. Drop by sometime when you're in the neighborhood. John and I have many happy memories of our time in Egmondville and Seaforth and we think of you often. Thank you for your kindness. - The Tabberts 47-45x1 Egmondville lost chance to merge with Seaforth We understand that, on account of a portion of the residents of Egmondville having petitioned the Government not to incorpor- ate that village with Seaforth, the Government have refused to do so, unless' a counter petition containing signatures represent- ing a larger amount of property than the other were forwarded. Such a petition, it seems, could not be obtained, and the Council of Seaforth have, consequently, withdrawn the application to have Egmondville incorporated with Seaforth, and have for- warded a new application to have Seaforth incorporated as a town without Egmondville. We fear the people of Egmondville will regret, when it is too late, the action they have taken. They have lost an opportunity of greatly benefitting their village which may not again offer in a hurry. -reprinted from The Huron Expositor, Oct. 2, 1874. Bribery was practised by old- time Tories, says old newspaper Under the administration of the Conservative Party in this coun- try, the practice of bribery at elections had become so preva- lent as to be almost alarming. When a candidate was selected, the first question asked was not "do his honesty, education and intelligence fit him for the posi- tion?", but "Has he money enough to carry him through?" The qualifications and fitness of a person for the position of Parliamentary representative, had become a secondary consider- ation, and the length of his purse the primary. To what length this would have been carried, had not a Reform Administration obtained the reins of Govern- ment, it is difficult to say. How- ever, it is sufficient to know that, through the intervention of Reform legislation, the reign of bribery has received a sudden and effectual check." - -from The Huron Expositor, Friday, Oct. 23, 1874. / 47.
