The Seaforth Tykes' hockey team
played their first game of the sea-
son Sunday afternoon. A strong
Wingham team provided ' good
competition and defeated the locals
10-3 with eight goals in the first
period. Joel Schenck played out-
standing goaltending and held the
opposition to only two goals in the
second half. Mark Wilbee scored
two goals and Matthew Camochan
netted one in a nifty breakaway for
Seaforth. Assisting the goals; were
Oliver O'Reilly, Chris Cronin,
Curtis Ryan, Tanner Glanville,
Ryan Wilson, Cory Chapell, Scott
Dalton, Tyler Carruthers, Patrick
TIM CUMMING mato Kale, Melissa Marion and Sean
Brooker.

Ringers ring Stratford's bell
Seaforth Ringers continued their
winning streak with a 12-0 win
against Stratford B.L. on Sunday at
4.
Mary Finlayson opened the scor-
ing with a quick blast two minutes
into the game. One minute later
Suzanne Coleman passed it to
Nicole Kistner who relayed it to
Erin Van Dooren who shot it home.
Goals were also scored by Mary
Finlayson, Erin Van Dooren,
Kimmy Van Miltenburg (2), Nicole
Centenaires la
The Seaforth Centenaires started
this season like a house on fire but
continued to play without even the
slightest hint of a spark Sunday
night at Lambeth where they
dropped a 6-1 decision to the
hometown Lancers.
It was their third -straight loss and
the second game in a row in which
the local juniors have been totally
outclassed, leaving them a fading
fifth, with a 6-4 record, in the
Western Division of the Ontario
Hockey Association's Junior
"D"evelopment League. The
Centenaires have given up 21 goals
in those last three games.
Things could get even bleaker this
weekend if the lads in green don't
start skating and hitting with a little
intensity because the Cents play
three games in three nights, two at
home against two of the division's
high -scoring front runners. Friday
night at 8:30 they host the Port
Stanley Lakers, who put 12 goals
past them in their only previous
encounter early'fas"t' mehth atT the-
Port,
hePort, and Sunday Exeter's Hawks
are in town for an 8 p.m. start. In
between, the Cents travel to Parkhill
for an 8:15 game against the North
Middlesex Stars.
The Centenaires are now six
points behind the league -leading
Lakers and only three points away
from the eighth and final playoff
spot in the tight nine -team division.
Jeff Volland opened the scoring
for Seaforth Sunday night at
Lambeth but after that it was all
Kistner and Courtney Fisher. The
great passes that made these goals
possible came from Courtney Fisher
(2), Nicole Kistner (2), Mary
Finlayson and Shannon Brooker.
The second period proved
Seaforth's talents with four more
goals. Brett Dietz made a pass to
Nicole Kistner who gave it to
Suzanne Coleman who put it
through the goalie's legs. Kimmy
Van Miltenburg completed her hat
trick with passes from Mary
cking spark
Lancers, which was surprising
considering it was Lambeth's third
game in three nights and they are
still without their best player,
captain Glen MacKinnon, who
broke a hand in the team's second
game of the season.
Goaltender Tim Swan kept the
Centenaires close, with his best
performance since he shut out the
Cullitons for a period in the pre-
season, in the first period which
ended 1-1. But the Cents once again
fell back on their heels in the
second period, having difficulty
with simple things such as clearing
the zone with any kind of authority
and winning the one-on-one battles
for the puck, so Lambeth took a 4-1
lead into the third, which ended up
being a virtual replay of the second.
Lambeth outshot the Centenaires
48-44.
Veteran winger Chad Ramer who
has been recovering from breaking
the same ankle twice this summer
has been skating for three. weeks
and may return to the ice this
weekend, and rookie forward Tim
Barton will return to the active
roster after sitting out a two -game
suspension.

Jenny Phillips popped one in from
a pass from defenceman Kayla

Shannon Brooker followed suit with
a' goal. Great defensive work by
Kayla Flanagan, Erin Van Dooren,
Amanda Van Miltenburg and Mary
Finlayson and also a shutout from
Monica Eckert led to a very
highscoring game in favour of the
Ringers. Seaforth's next home game
is Dec. 9 at 7:15.
