WE ALL FALL DOWN...ALMOST - Centenaires defenceman all end up flat on the
Greg Matthison, goalie Tim Swan and a Belmont Bomber player standing.
Cents notch two wins
TIM CUMMING PHOTO
ice...leaving only defenceman Jeff Flanagan
The Seaforth Centenaires put
together three solid periods for the
first time this season Saturday night
at Monkton, so waltzed to a 7-3
win over the defending champion
Mitchell Hawks. Coupled with
Friday night's entertaining 6-5
squeaker on home ice over the
Belmont Bombers, the wins leave
the Centenaires with a 6-1 record,
in the thick of a three-way battle
for top spot with Port Stanley and
Exeter in the Western Division of
the Ontario Hockey Association's
Junior "D"evelopment League.
The Seaforth juniors go again
Friday night when they host the Mt.
Brydges Bulldogs at 8:30 on "Meet.
the Players Night". Saturday night -
they have a 7:30 appointment In
Belmont.
Jason Murray found the range
with three goals, just missing a
fourth, Saturday night helping the
Cents get over the 2-1 loss in four
overtimes that eliminated them from
the Division Final the last time the
Hawks and Seaforth tangled in the
spring. Josh Little, Steve McInally,
Jason Hayter and Jason Dunseith
also scored for the Centenaires,
who showed a consistency both up
front and behind the blueline that
had been lacking in earlier victories,
despite their unfamiliar lofty perch
in the standings. Mitchell was out
of this one relatively early, as
Seaforth earned a 6-1 lead going
into the final period, then traded
goals and gave up Mitchell's final
goal on a mid-air deflection with
less than two minutes to play that
Tcrry Sawchuck in his prime
couldn't have stopped.
Although played in Monkton it
was a Mitchell home game. They
play one game there each year
because the Hawks draw from that
area, just as Lucan plays
occasionally at Ilderton and
Scaforth at Goderich.

....four -goal weekend.
Special teams stole the show
Friday night at Seaforth where it
was almost worth your life to take
a penalty. Referee Paul Petrie only
called seven minor infractions in
the game but both teams'
powerplays connected three times
and Seaforth's Steve Geiger scored
a shorthanded goal early in the third
that stood as the winner.
McInally was the triggerman
when the Cents had the man
advantage scoring three times,
giving him four for the weekend
and eight on the season, now tops
on the team. Ted Sills and Little, on
a beautiful pass from Chad Papple
that went some distance then over a
stick through heavy traffic in the
slot, added single goals.
Tim Swan was fighting the puck
during the first period in the
Seafonh net but picked himself up
later and made at least five crucial
saves in the final two periods. Dave
Nahrgang displayed an aggressive
confidence between the pipes for
the Centenaires Saturday in his best
start so far this young season.

Parr Line ladies win
OCT. 19, 1994
PARR LINE 6 - PERTH 0
Perth ladies had plenty of get up
and go but their goals were few.
Parr Line is on the move as goals
pile up. Scoring goals were
Chipper, Frem, Kuss, Sue Ellen and
mighty Cin. Great back-up from
Stella, Bev. Glenda and Soph.
WINTHROP 3 - SOCIALITES 0
The Socialites are full of energy
but the goal -scoring was nil! Hang,
on as the Winthrop ladies go all out
as sly Barbie pops in two havoc
goals while side kick Anderson
captures the third goal, brilliant
passes by Tammy Nash and Tammy
Kennedy.
KNIGHTS 4 - RAIDERS 1
Raiders are on the score board as
Jeff Kennedy drills the ball directly
into the net what quick thinking
passes from Rick Anderson and
Dave Bell. However the Knights
take the lead as Mark Louwagie
cleans house with two quick goals,
wee Larry Bertens contributes one,
along with shy Steve Selves. Back-
up help from Paul Nyenhuis and
powerful Harold Hugill.

MEN'S BROOMBALL
OCTOBER 20, 1994
DUMPERS 3 - ROYALS 1
The Royals played awesomely as
clever Frank Harmer drills the ball
into top right corner of the net what
a pass from Cord Mills (#6
McCarthy should practice shooting
on net) as the game should have
been 3-3. But, Oh well, the
Dumpers pull ahead with goals
scored by quick -draw Dill and
Smiley Bretsky while in the back-
ground is Franky, Harve and Don.

The Rustlers outplayed the Parr
Line men but came up shorthanded
on goal scoring. Single goal for
Rusters was scored by slasher (Ray
Kaaster) wow! what passing from
King Kong D "King" and wee
Hank Nyman. O.K., the Parr Line
team did win with no help needed
for Paul Gibbings. However Mark
Ryan helps Mark Krahn with the
second goal. Good game fellows!
The Rustlers' goalie `Mr. Tim' was
awesome in net, making saves that
he never realized he had done until
they were over with.
GRADS 2 - WINTHROP 0
Grads had plenty of ice time as
goals were scored by the "Wynja
boys', but, never fear, as Tony is
near. I don't think Winthrop men
were into the game as nothing
seemed to pan out for them!
