Cakes to Bake and
Cakes to Eat
BY CRISTA
VANDEN HOVEN
Let them eat cake, Marie
Antoinette said at the French
Revolution. Seaforth 1 4-H
members ate cake at the third
meeting. Members met at the
Vanden Hoven's on Sept. 19 at
7 p.m. Melanie Cronin, Junior
Leader introduced a game on
Mystery Cakes.
Members found this quite
challenging. After this members
discussed how to make cakes
from scratch without making it
flop. There are two methods
used to make a cake, the con-
ventional cake method and the
egg -foam cake method. Mem-
bers helped measure and make a
spice cake. While it was baking
members discussed some of the
finer details of good cakes and
how to make them. Remember
to use grease free utensils when
making an angel food cake.
Members might find more suc-
cess with a sponge cake!
After tasting the spice cake
members decided raisins added
would be tasty too.
