Rabies clinic in this area

The Huron County Health
Unit, Public Health Inspection
Department in cooperation with
the veterinarians in Huron
County are hosting low cast
Anti -Rabies Vaccination Clinic
in the early part of October,
1994. The cost for vaccinating
your dog of cat for rabies will
be $10 including G.S.T. Please
check for the advertisement in
this newspaper for the time that
the low cost Anti -Rabies
Vaccination Clinics will be held
in your area. The low-cost
clinics will be held over several
days for your convenience to
ensure you get your pet
vaccinated. For more
information, you may call the
Huron County Health Unit at
482-3416 or 1-800-265-5184 and
ask for the Public Health
Inspection Department or call
your local veterinarian. Pet
owners are reminded that dogs
and cats are required to be
vaccinated for Rabies.
Centre holds programs
Join the Hensall community
Drop -In, Oct. 20 at the Hensall
United Church. Activities include
Foot Care at 10 a.m. and a meal at
noon. Monica Penner from
Shoreline Health Co. will show the
most updated assistive devices for
daily living. Cathy Ryan, the Public
Health Nurse, will be on had for
consultation. The day will conclude
with card games. Reserve by phon-
ing Margaret Cole (262-2304) or
Faye Skinner, Town and Country
Homemakers (235-0258), before
noon qn Monday. For information
regarding other services for seniors
contact the Exeter Town and Coun-
try Homemakers office (235-0258).
Fall programming has begun again
for line dancing, clogging at the
Exeter Drop -In.
On Sunday, Oct. the sacrament of
communion was observed at Carmel
Presbyterian Church. A pulpit bible
was donated by the Taylor family
in memory of Christina and Orval
Taylor and their granddaughter
Donna Mae Taylor. The bible was
accepted. by - Robert M. Bell. on
behalf of the congregation.
Jan Baker opened the October
meeting of the Carmel Presbyterian
Church Women (PCW) with a
poem 'Autumn Harvest'. Cathy Bell
introduced the guest speaker
Margaret Greig of London.
Margaret led a sing -song accom-
panying the songs with her guitar.
She led a discussion about activities
in ladies' group. Dorothy Taylor
thanked the speaker.
Marg Varley conducted the wor-
ship using 'Thankgiving' as her
theme, using son, verse, story and
prayer. Dorothy Taylor was the
pianist for the evening.
A thank -you note was read from
Edith Bell. Marilyn Campbell gave
the treasurer's report and Cathy
Bell gave the sick and shut-in
report. Jan thanked the women who
helped at Queensway bingo. It was
decided to ask Rev. Mark Gaskin to
attend the November meeting. The
meeting closed with lunch served
by Dorothy Taylor and Marg Love.
The P.C.W. of Carmel Church
travelled to Atwood on Thursday
evening, they were entertained by
Atwood Presbyterian Ladies.
HENSALL GYMNASTICS
CLUB
The Hensall Gymnastics Club is
holding registration at the Hensall
Library Wednesday, Oct. 12 and
Thursday, Oct. 13 from 7-9 p.m.
Classes begin Oct. 19. (information
available at 262-2812 or 262-3025)
WEEK OF THE CHILD
Week of the Child activities are
currently being finalized. Some
highlights include a child identifica-
tion project, crafts for kids, free
skating, movies, and of course the
Costume Parade. The week will
hold special significance this year
as the International Year of the
Family is celebrated. Activities are
broadening their focus, to include
the entire family. Parents arc
encouraged to dress up and join the
fun Saturday, Oct. 22 - 12:30 p.m.
(at the Hensall Fire Hall).
Hensall Residents are reminded of
the Special Garbage pick-up sched-
uled for- Friday, October 14.

Women's group
helps shut-ins
The Afternoon Ladies' Group of
the Hensall United Church met Oct.
6. Twelve were present and 30
visits were made in September. In
October volunteers packed and
delivered 30 boxes to shut-ins for
Thanksgiving.
Elva Forest read a poem 'Take
Nothing For Granted', followed by
prayer. The group sang 'Come Let
Us Sing of a Wonderful Life'.
Mary Roobol had the devotional,
using scripture from Ephesians 5:20
for her theme.
The offering was taken and dedi-
cated by Elva Forrest. Elva Forrest
was the pianist. Sadie Craig gave
the treasurer's report.
Anne Annen invited the group to
the manse for the Christmas meet-
ing in December. Elva showed a
video of animals and birds of the
Artic. Rene Caldwell loaned the
group the video which was enjoyed
very much.
The group sang the hymn #19,
followed by the Benediction, Fredo
Boa and Audrey Christie served
lunch for the social hour.
