Cents win two big ones The Seaforth Centenaires are off to the races after opening their Ontario Hockey Association Junior 'D' evelopment League season with a couple of weekend wins. Steve McInally's pair of goals and three assists paced the Centenaires to a 7-5 victory over the Bulldogs at Mt. Brydges Saturday night, following a 6-3 win over the Lucan Irish 6 in their home opener at the Seaforth and District Community Centres Friday. Brandon Corriveau led the local attack in that game with two goals and another two assists. The Seaforth juniors host the North Middlesex Stars from Parkhill in their next start Friday night at 8:30. On Saturday they hit thc road to Port Stanley for an 8:30 appointment with the Lakers. Jason Dunseith was the Centenaires' leading scorer as a winger on a line with the two Devereaux boys two seasons ago but Centenaires' coach Maurice Guy is now using him . as a defenceman to provide a little more oomph behind the blueline. "Dunce", as he is known to his teammates, showed the transition hasn't hurt his touch Saturday by potting a pair of goals. Singles were added by . Greg Matthison, Steve Geiger and Corriveau as the Ccntennaires at one point enjoyed a 5-1 lead but allowed the Bulldogs to make a game of it later while serving a high sticking major. On Friday night Mclnally, Geiger, Jason Murray and Jeff Volland each added a goal and an assist to the cause as the Cents cruised in their home opener against the always tough Irish. Greg Deprest, a 100 - point player for Lucan the last couple of seasons, headed in that general direction again by notching two goals and an assist. The Centenaires seem to be developing the pleasant tradition of picking up points in their opening game on home ice. They haven't lost a home opener now in four seasons, notching three wins and a tie since then. open with win thc Jays was Murray Bennewies with 243,207,286-736.
