Residents gather for Box dedication
A large gathering of local resi-
dents gathered for a ceremony on
Sunday to dedicate the Box and
Smith Funeral Chapel to the mem-
ory of Richard Samuel (Dick) Box.
Barbara Box, his daughter, was
on hand to help current Funeral
Director Chris Smith unveil a pic-
ture of Dick Box which will be on
display in the funeral chapel.
Other members of the Box family
to attend the ceremony were
Barbara's husband Travis Postill
and the nephew of Mr. Box, Ron
Vance and his wife Karen of
Toronto. Dick Box's wife, Mary,
was unable to attend the dedication
due to illness.
About 60 people attended the
chapel dedication and commemor-
ative tree planting.

were on hand including Rev. James
Sloan, Rev. Cheryl -Ann
Stadelbauer-Sampa, Rev. James
Sloan, Father Tony Del Ciancio and

Rev. Sloan gave words of dedica-
tion at the ceremony inside the R.
S. Box Memorial Chapel.
R. S. (Dick) Box, who died in
1980, was remembered as a com-
munity -minded man.

IN MEMORY - Barbara Box unveils a picture of her father, the
late R. S. Box, with Christopher Smith at Sunday's Dedication of
the R. S. Box Memorial Chapel.
Smith, who took over ownership of
the funeral chapel last year, said
Mr. Box was a well-respected per-
son who did a lot of work for the
community.
The ceremony brought back a lot
of fond memories, said Barbara
Box.
"It was a lovely service,” she said
afterwards.
Outside the Funeral Chapel Major
Frank Golding, padre of Seaforth
Legion Branch 156 remembered the
late Dick Box in a commemorative
tree planting. A red maple was
planted in his memory to stand out
from the other trees in the arca.
"We still miss him and still share
the sorrow of his death," said Major
Golding.

Manor
Summer passed
quickly
"How quickly the summer has
gone" is a comment made by most
residents at Maplewood Manor but
they are looking forward to the
colours fall brings.
During the month of August,
residents enjoyed a picnic at St.
Christophers' Beach in Goderich.
On the way home, we visited a
roadside zoo and were treated to ice
cream treats.
Residents also enjoyed a
magnificent musical revue by the
Huron Country Playhouse held at
Seaforth Manor.
Residents were once again on the
road - this time heading to the
home of Bill Gibson in Hensall.
Everyone had an enjoyable
afternoon viewing his beautiful
flower gardens, listening and
singing along to his music and
sampling his delicious pie.
Marion Rose and Bill Gibson
visited Maplewood to share their
musical talents. It's always a great
hour of music and song.
Thanks go to Eva McCartney and
Kathleen Cuthill for helping with
bingo each week and also to Anne
Downey and Marjory Maloney with
euchre. Their presence makes these
two favorite games even better.
Don't forget to mark September
30 on your calendar. Everyone is
invited to Maplewood's fashion
show with Geri Fashions of
London. They will be at
Mapelwood from noon to 4 p.m.
fashion show at 2 o'clock. Hope
you can come.
