Event benefits entire community
Perhaps the single most
unifying force among the
people of Zurich is the annual
Bean Festival.
Practically everyone in the
village gets involved in some
way.
The hard work and dedica-
tion of an army ofvolunteers
makes the smooth operation
of each year's festival possible.
While the entire community
deserves credit for the success
of the event, the
hard-working members of the
organizing committee . are
perhaps most responsible for
getting the old bean ball
rolling and maintaining
momentum.
The entire community also
benefits from the event,
through donations from
festival proceeds. In past years,
such organizations as the local
fire department, minor sports
and . various community
betterment projects have been
the recipients of Bean Festival
proceeds.
Dont miss
bean salad
at festival
The story of the Bean
Festival is one of co-opera-
tion.
For the past three years, the
Ontario Coloured Bean
Growers have been prepar-
ing the bean salad for the
dinner.
This year, all the salads will
be prepared by Rader's
Homestyle Catering of
Zurich with the Ontario
Coloured Bean Growers
Association donating the
ingredients. •
