•Margaret Bannon served on an
Ack Ack Battery, which shot down
several German planes based in
Southern England. Her battery
suffered the first service women
killed in action.
'Other residents who served were
Stella Beattie, Airforce Transport
service; Virenne Newham,
Women's Aux. air force; Dilys
Finnegan, Women's Fire Fighters,
London; Barbara Scott, Auxiliary
Territorial Service.
•Also serving were Ken Oldace,
observer corps, southern England;
Charles Perkins, British Army,
Italy; Dinah Sills, Women's Royal
Navy.
•Robert Newnham, air force, was
on the Battle Ship H.M.S.
Manchester when it attacked the
Italian fleet on November 27, 1940.
•Doc. Paul Brady fought against the
Japanese before D -Day, in Alaska.
After D -Day, Seaforth servicemen
and service women fought through
France, Holland, Belgium and Ger-

throughout Europe in World War II
many. There are too many names to
mention at this time and many were
wounded and killed.
The highest praise is extended to
the many Seaforth Dutch residents
who fought in the underground, in
Burma and in Malaysia.
If I have missed anyone or
offended anyone I humbly and
sincerely apologize. This material
has come from you the people and
is in our Legion museum which has
become one of the best in Ontario.
