It is the first time in 15 years the event has been held in Htuon County. "We've got (some op the top judges in the world today," said Andrew McBride, of the Huron County Holstein Club. The official judging show is a chance for future judges to be groomed. Official judges and aspir- ing judges stand side-by-side as they judge the animals or the show- manship of those showing the ani- mals. By maintaining above-average scores for three years a dairy enthusiast can become an Official Aspiring Judge. Three more years of above-average scores could make u that person an Official Judge. For the fust year the contest featured not only Holsteins but also Jersey cows and Brown Swiss. McBride said the dairy industry is pulling together for shows like these to make better use of their resources. "A good cow is a good cow in any colour," he said. The cattle from Ontario can com- pete world-wide, said Jim Ginn, of Clinton. That's why days like the Judging Contest are so important, he says.
