More Friday games Continued from page 11. league because it was not accom- panied by the OHA's standard $5,000 entry fee and they were concerned about where this team's allegiance would lie next spring when minor playoffs were in prog- ress. Governors were also informed the cost of sticks is going up about 15 per cent this year. The IDL has done its scheduling by computer for the first time for the upcoming campaign. The Centenaires have chosen 17 Friday night home dates for 1994-95 and three Sunday night games, moving away from the usual about 10 of each, because they feel it is easier to draw a good gate on Friday nights and better for players often travelling to and from school. They have also decide to do away with their pre -season "mini -camp" for local players because it didn't attract qualified local players to Seaforth's junior hockey program, and the move will enable the team to control costs by halving its ice rental requirements in late August. The Seaforth Juniors are also looking for an assistant coach to work with returning head coach Maurice Guy, who helped the team run off a record eight -straight playoff wins last spring. Last season's assistant, Joe Chaffe of Mitchell, resigned on good terms with regrets to pursue head coach- ing opportunities elsewhere. Paul McLlwain and Jim Campbell, both of Seaforth, have also returned to the Centenaires in a new role, both as directors on the executive. George Pratt Jr. is out of the picture and Dave Revington is the new coach of the Exeter Hawks, and Barry Baynham his assistant, in a major shakeup in that organiz- ation. John Pryde becomes assistant GM. All three were the brains behind Exeter's Senior A Mohawks in recent seasons, a classy operation that has always been very competi- tive and run with efficiency and imagination under their tutelage. In this trio's five seasons the Mohawks won three league cham- pionships, two OHA titles and were also once Hardy Cup semi-finalists. Revington also coached Lucan's junior Irish to two OHA titles in the late 1980s. Meanwhile, Scott Bogart and Jeff Dalrymple, both from Exeter, are the new co -coaches of Lucan. Pat Ryan is now Lucan's general manager, replacing Ken Freeman who becomes GM of London's junior B Nationals. The Nationals and Irish will remain affiliates. Former Nationals GM Fred Schell is also no longer coach of the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs. Much travelled former Centenaire head coach Bob Zimmer will both be behind the bench and serve as gen- eral manager for a junior B team in Great Falls, Montana this season. The Centenaires 1990-91 Rookie of the Year, Mike Wau of Egmondville, is rated in the second round and 40th overall for this week's annual National Hockey League draft. If he makes it he would become the third winner of that local award to advance to the world's top hockey league (Dave McLlwain '83-'84 and Pat Murray '84-'85), and if Rem Murray, who now stars at Michigan State Univer- sity and was drafted by the L.A. Kings in the sixth round a couple of seasons ago, also ends up making the grade he would be the fourth. Rem was the Cents' Rookie of the Year in 1988-89. HENSALL SHUFFLEBOARD June 21, 1994 High six game winners: Russell Ferguson (462); Hazel McEwan (458); Pearl McKnight (427); Dave Kyle (410); Helen McKay (380); Allen Berry (379) and Ethel McMurtrie (374). 64. i THE BEST PLACE TO SHOP FOR CANADA'S BEST CHOICE OF MINIVANS.
