BY TIM CUMMING

'Every job is a self-portrait of the
person who did it,' the chairperson
of Region Two of Hospital Auxili-
aries Association of Ontario told the
Annual June Dinner of the Seaforth
Hospital Auxiliary on June 14.
"Autograph your work with qual-
ity," said Frances Teatero.
In her speech she stressed the
importance of each volunteer. She
also told the well -attended meeting
that Seaforth Community Hospital
and the Auxiliary have a good
name throughout the province.
Audrey Anne McLean was pres-
ented with a 'Local Life Member'
award at the June dinner. She had
previously earned her 20 -year certi-
ficate for 20 years of service to the
Hospital Auxiliary in 1977.
She joined the Auxiliary in 1946
and served as both recording and
corresponding secretary. She also
served on the Ways and Means
Committee, in numerous
fundraising projects and in the gift
shop.
Five long-time members of the
Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary were
also honoured as 'Honourary Mem-
bers.' They are:

Auxiliary in 1942 and was a gift
shop volunteer, manned the tuck
cart, assisted on numerous

ary in 1944 and received her 20 -

Area auxiliaries visit Seaforth
Should hospital auxiliaries have
babysitting services for young
members? Are the active volunteers
in hospital auxiliaries appreciated
enough for the work they do?
Should Auxiliary members wear
uniforms?
These were some of the questions
a number of Ontario Hospital Aux-
iliary representatives asked while in
Seaforth for the President's Work-
shop.
Marjorie Johns, of South Huron
Hospital in Exeter, said she enjoyed
hearing the whole session.
"Our problems aren't all the same
as some of the big (hospitals)," she
said, but noted "there's value in
listening to others." There are big
changes coming to health care, she
said, but "I don't think we know
where we're going yet."
The Seaforth hospital was compli-
mented by Ellen Bowden, of
Guelph General Hospital. She said
it was interesting to see a smaller
hospital.
"It seems more friendly," she
said. "In a big place you lose that
feeling."
The workshop dealt with how to
attract volunteers to the Hospital
Auxiliary, she said, noting that
some people are at first afraid to
enter a hospital.
The hospital auxiliaries have
many of the same problems, said
Marguerite Leckie, of Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital in
Goderich.
"We learn from each other
because we're all presidents."
The day of learning, hosted by
Region Two Chairperson Frances
Teatero and Seaforth Community
Hospital, benefitted both large and
small hospitals. The hospitals
included: St. Marys Memorial,
Clinton Public, Stratford General,
Kitchener -Waterloo, Palmerston and
District, Cambridge Memorial,
Louise Marshall, Guelph General,
Wingham and District, South Huron
and Alexandra Marine and General.

noon a group of residents met for
the monthly supper club.
Due to the extreme heat on
Thursday residents decided to stay
indoors, and watched the movie
'Mrs. Doubtfire', a comedy starring
Robin Williams.
Sunday afternoon, residents had
many family members and friends
in to visit for Father's Day. Resi-
dents were able to treat their guest
to sweet treats and cold lemonade
at the Annual Father's Day tea.
