This talented music duo comes from Exeter and entertains at nursing homes in Florida throughout the winter. Residents were thrilled to have them visit and with the weather co-operating beautifully it combined for a perfect afternoon. Fancy squares, fresh strawberries and cold drinks provided the finishing touch to the activity. Friends, relatives and residents gathered at an open house in honour of Anna Mclaughlin's 80th birthday. Best wishes go out to Anna from everyone at the Manor. The Gardening Club has once again put their green thumbs to work and produced three lovely window boxes to grace the front verandah. The Seniors Prom is fast approaching on Thursday, June 23. Victory for St. Columban team On Saturday, June 11, St. Columban travelled to Nairn to play possibly the weakest team in their division. After playing the first 30 minutes of the game rather slowly, the visitors finally woke up and gave the Nairn team a real going over. Despite playing very poorly at the start of the game, St. Columban defense kept the team in the game until about the 35 minute mark when a shot by Mike "Charlie Hussel" Seiler rebounded off of the cross bar high into the air. The ball eventually did come down to a waiting St. Columban midfielder, Brian Melady, who made no mistake in heading the ball into the net. There was no more scoring in the first half and it ended 1-0 for the good guys. St. Columban came out much stronger in the second half and applied some good pressure to the Nairn defense. At the ten minute mark they were rewarded when Nehru Budna and Paul Murray, who recently came out of retirement, made a nice passing play to get the ball to Steve Ryan. Ryan, who must have greased the ball up before he kicked it, was able to put a low shot between the legs of the Nairn keeper. A few minutes later, Ryan capitalized on some mistakes by the opposition's defense and put his second goal of the day into an open net. St. Columban's lead was increased to 3-0. Mark Martinez, a St. Columban midfielder, deceived the Nairn keeper who put a perfect pass on to Martinez's foot. He had no problem putting the ball into the net and after his Boeing 747 airplane -like routine, the boys were at centre with a four -goal lead. Although that would be enough to win the game on this day, - St. Columban got another goal off a scramble between John Jordan and the Nairn keeper. The ball squirted out to Brian 'Hullett grants sign money Hullett Township Council approved a $100 grant to the Londesboro BIA for entrance signs at the June 7 meeting of council.
