Legion D -Day commemoration On Sunday, June 5, Hensall Legion Branch 458 commemorated the 50th anniversary of D -Day, with good attendance of veterans, spouses, Legion executive and Ladies Auxiliary. A parade to the cenotaph was followed by a short service with Rev. Henry Annen, Legion Padre, officiating. The Last Post was played by Mr. Frans Boogemans. On May 27 Joint installations was held at Blyth Branch. Hensall Hensall by Liz Sangster 262-2715 1 Legion installed the following slate of officers: President Larry Uyl; 1st Vice - Pete Zwaan; 2nd Vice - Brian Fink; Secretary/Treasurer - Bea Uyl; Sgt. at Arms - Dave Smale; Executive - John McAllister, Wilmer Dalrymple, Jack Simmons, Randy Bedard, Lillian Baynham and Glen Cooper. The final Legion meeting of the season was held June 8. A donation was made to the Usbome Minor baseball, Saturday, June 18, the Legion is hosting the Zone C-1 golf tournament. The legion wishes all members a safe and happy summer and hope to see them at the next meeting in September. Missing from photo are President John Lansink and Treasurer Don Eaton. Decoration Day - June 19 By Jean Ross Decoration Day will be Sunday. June 19. Flags have been placed on the graves at Maitlandbank and Harpurhey cemeteries by Jim Watson. If you know of a grave that has been missed, let Jim know. The flags are at the branch for those who do the other cemeteries. The Ladies' Auxiliary is having its Sunday Dinner on Father's Day, June 19. George Miller and Joyce were guests at the D -Day Ceremony at Queen's Park on June 6. The General Meeting will be held on Thursday, June 16 at 8 p.m. All members are welcome to attend.
