Stedmans introduces videos, new hours
The owners of Stedman's V & S
Deparunent Store in Seaforth have
tackled the competitive world of
retailing by changing with the
times.
"We're always looking for new
ideas and ways to keep our business
fresh and interesting to our cus-
tomers," say owners Dave and
Michelle Deighton. "Our goal is to
offer our customers more of the
things the(want and provide them
with more convenient shopping
hours."
The Stedman's owners have
backed up their words with action.
They have introduced new,
expanded hours which are more
customer -friendly. Store hours have
been extendeedd'4p 9 p.m. from Mon-
day to Saturday`and 12-5 on Sun-
days.
Changes at Stedman's go beyond
simply a change in hours.
"We recently introduced video
rentals, a larger assortment of music
as well as more convenience items
such as pop, cigarettes and newspa-

pers," they say.
The husband and wife ownership
team has been in business in
Seaforth for five years, having
purchased the store from a relative
in 1989.
They are enthusiastic about the
future, promising many innovative
changes.
"We intend to expand on the
convenience lines in the near
future," they say. "Look for lottery
tickets, magazines, videos for sale

and a popcorn machine soon to
come."
The store has added better hours,
new services and selection...but
Stedman's hasn't sacrificed any of
the traditional departments which
have become so popular.
While some people fear change,
not these business owners.
"What pleases us most about our
business is that it's always changing
which keeps things interesting and
exciting," say Dave and Michelle.
"We especially enjoy the positive
comments from our customers."
Customers have made many posi-
tive comments about the new look
of the store, which seems larger and
more open. Others are very happy
with the store's new hours,
especially those who work days.
