Women's Self-
defence on
July 21
The next Hensall Drop -In will be
held Thursday, June 15 at the
Hensall United Church. Come early
if you require footcare. Footcare is
offered on a first come, first served
basis for a minimal charge.
Lunch starts at 12 noon, followed
by low-key exercise. Cathy Ryan,
Public Health Nurse, will speak on
her trip to Baffin Island. The day is
never complete until the games are
over. Cost for the afternoon is $4
per person. If you wish to just
participate in the activities, there is
$1 charge. Don't forget the
"Women's Self-defense" lecture by
Ron Tyndall on July 21, 10:30 a.m.
Rev. Henry Annen conducted
worship service this past Sunday at
the Hensall United Church. As this
was the first Sunday of the month,
the congregation sang the Lord's
Prayer. The Children's Hymn for
this month is "We Are the Church."
The flowers in the church were
placed in memory of the late Jack
Peck.
The marriage of Sadie Hoy and
Murray Craig took place Saturday,
June 4, in the Hensall United
Church. Rev. Henry Annen offici-
ated at the ceremony.
Pamela Sangster, of Timmins,
spent a few days in Hensall visiting
with her mother, Janeth Sangster,
and family.
The Hensall Tinker Tots Co-op
Nursery School was busy Saturday
morning, making a move from their
present location. The school will
now operate from the Hensall Pub-
lic School. The move was made
with mixed emotions, as the Nurs-
ery School had always been well
served at the Hensall Community
Centre. It is however, very exciting
to be relocated in their new home.
The Nursery School offers an Inte-
gration Program, and with the
School being located on one level,
it will be much more accessible.
Further, with the implementation of
Junior Kindergarten, the School is
looking to expand their program-
ming, to meet the needs of the
Community. Area residents inter-
ested in the School and/or program,
are encouraged to contact Karen
Jolly, President, at 262-3207. Best
of luck in your new location!
Hensall residents are reminded
that dog tags are available at the
Hensall Municipal Office. The
licenses are the same price as last
year. Your co-operation in obtaining
your dog's license is appreciated.
Dog owners are also reminded to
clean up after their animals.
The Hensall Spring Fair is hap-
pening this weekend! You won't
want to miss the wide variety of
events. Local service clubs and
organizations will be on hand with
lots of fun activities. These include:
a dunk tank, dart -and -balloon game,
bobbing for apples, ice cream, face
painting, bounces, pony rides, car
bash, 'hay area', ball toss and so
very much more. These activities
are in addition to the regular events
of: mini pedal pull, horse shows
(Friday and Saturday), calf club
show and sale, poultry show, sheep
show, parade and Queen of the Fair
Competition. Don't forget about the
Tug -of -War competition. This will
be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30
p.m. (to follow the parade). It will
be located behind the ball diamond
- you don't want to miss this! The
grand finale for the 1994 Fair will
be a Saturday evening dance, hosted
by the Hensall Optimist Club.
Tickets are $10 a couple, and are
available from Optimist Club mem-
bers, and from the Hensall Village
Office. Further information about
the Fair is available from Barb
Westlake -Power at 262-3025.
The Hensall Optimist Club is not
the only organization busy planning
a dance in Hensall. The Hensall
Parks Board is excited to announce
the upcoming Pork BBQ and
Dance, to celebrate Hensall's 110th
Birthday. This is scheduled for
August 19, 1994. That date may
seem far off, but these tickets are
?oin$ fast) The band for the even-
ing is "Double Exposure" a band
with an extensive repertoire.
Attendants have a choice of 'pig -
out' times 6:30 p.m. or 10:30 p.m.
Further information is available
from Tom Dickins at 262-3206.
