Walton students visit county attractions
On Friday, May 27 the students,
teachers and parent supervisors at
Walton Public School visited some
attractions Huron County offers.
Their first stop was at East
Wawanosh Nature centre where the
students collected and studied
stream life from Belgrave creek.
They also visited the farm near
Dungannon and saw a lot of differ-
ent animals including monkeys,
zebras, ducks, geese, camels and
many other critters. They visited the
historic jail in Goderich. They loved
the jail cells and enjoyed going
through the warden's house.
While helping out Mrs. Scott on
Tuesday, Cassanda Banks learned
that the grade three teacher had
sdihe other skills other than teach -
int! Cassandra having a very loose
tooth, learned that Mrs. Scott is also

Now, in case people are wonder-
ing who Luke and Curtis McClure
are I must apologize for getting the
names mixed up. I was thinking
McCallum but typed McClure. It
should read: Luke and Curtis, twin
sons of .Tara and Carl McCallum
were bapitzed May 22 at Duff's
United Church.
Downtown Walton will be the
place to be on June 4. Starting at 9
a.m. there will be garage sales
throughout the village. The baseball
park will be busy too as there will
Guest speaker presents
China slides to Kippen W.I.
An Egmondville resident, Joyce
Doig, spoke on China at the recent
meeting of the Kippen East
Women's Institute.
Phyllis Parsons introduced the
guest speaker, who showed slides
and gave an in-depth insight into
China, especially the Dam Project
on the Yangtze River. She men-
tioned a few places to see in China:
The Summer Palace, The Long
Walk, The Great Wall, The Marble
Boat, and Beijing. She noted there
is no garbage lying around China
and there would be as many as
50,000 bicycles a minute at an
intersection.
Kippen East Women's Institute
met at the home of Dorothy Bell
for their May meeting. The meeting
opcnc d with the Ode, Mary
Stewart Collect and a Poem "My,
How Well We've Done."
The roll call was answered by
showing wedding pictures and
(surprise!) one of the members is
getting married again June 4, 1994.
The W.I. has been invited to
Zurich W.I's. 80th Anniversary on
June 6 at 2 p.m. The District Bus
Trip has been cancelled. The offi-
cial opening of the F.W.1.O. Head-
quarters is Aug. 21, 1994 at 1 p.m.
- Kippen East is to take dessert to
the Picnic in Crediton on July 5.
Dorothy Bell gave a smile.
Thea Wisch read a poem from a
book given her by the late Margaret
Hoggarth.
After the contest and courtesies
the meeting closed with the Royal
Anthem.
Pastoral Care lunch held
Seaforth Manor Nursing Home
was pleased to host the Pastoral
Care Luncheon this past week. The
team of ministers and pastoral care
volunteers have provided worship
services every Wednesday for the
past year for Seaforth Manor resi-
dents.
Residents also enjoyed an after-
noon sing -along with Carol Carter.
They are very fortunate to have
such wonderful musical talent come
into the nursing home, according to
staff. The Seaforth Nursery School
visited for a fuh morning of songs
and games. Residents also enjoyed
the morning of bowling with the
grade seven students from Seaforth

After the Call to Worship and the
first hymn Rev. Randy Banks called
upon Patty Banks, Sunday school
superintendent, to begin the Sunday
school promotions. She thanked
Heidi McClure, Val Pethick, John
Uyl, Gloria Wilbee, Dianne
McCallum, Donna McClure and
Linda McDonald for being teachers
and JoAnn McDonald for being
secretary -treasurer.
Doreen Hackwell read scripture.
After his sermon Rev. Randy Banks
led the congregation through the
communion service. Dianne
McCallum, Ian Wilbee, Ken and
Leona McDonald were communion
servers.
Rev. Randy Banks recently
received a little book for his birth-
day called, 'Life's Little Instruction
book.' I'd like to share with readers
of this column some very important
information from this book: 'Eat a
piece of chocolate to cure bad
breath from garlic or onions.' So
now you know what to carry in
your purse or pocket when you've
been out for dinner. You will also
now understand the reason for
someone offering you a chocolate
bar. Have a good week.
