Two youth members from the area that attended the function were Steven Pullman of RR#2 Kippen, a member of the first Seaforth Venturers and Kevin Waddel of RR#2 Staffa, a member of the first Cromarty Scouts. Local youths attend Forum BY STEVE PULLMAN Expositor CO-OP Student Youth getting involved was the key point when of the first ever Blue Water Region Youth Forum for Scouts Canada, on may 13 - 14. The forum was held in the Village of Carlsruhe southeast of Walkerton. Steven Pullman a member of the first Seaforth Venturers and Kevin Waddell, a scout in Cromarty, were the representatives for Perth District at this very special event. Each District was to send one representa- tive from their Scout, Venturer and Rover sections. Saturday Exeter's Own Recording Artists POSITIVELY STOMPIN' Unique Country like no other $2.00 Cover Charge In total there was a total of fifteen youth representing various districts at the function. The Friday night's activities included a question period on how the scouting program is perceived in the eyes of the public and the participants. These questions were asked in the form of the comparison between the program and cars. This was the end of the day and the participants all retired for the night. The next day was filled with a vaned supply of group activities to start the process of training the forum participants for future youth meetings so the new improved ladder of communication from youth all the way to the national council could begin. The Forum held group discussions so the leaders of the scouting sec- tions could know the views and concerns about the program that the TICKETS ON SALE NOW! (519) 523-9300 forum participants had. In many discussions, topics like promoting the image and putting the OUT back in scouting were major issues that were brought up on several occasions. The largest thing that was dis- cussed was advertising, trying to put the program back in the public eye. Some of the resolutions that were made were to have more regional activities, for example a regional camp, and functions like the past forum, another one was to get more corporate sponsorship to reduce the cost of uniforms and everything else that goes into participating. All in all it was a learning experi- ence and hopefully an experience that can be duplicated over and over again. I was happy to be a part of it and able to supply the com- munity with the information obtained from it. 1411 Th ENGAGEMENT MIDDEGAAL - ROCK John and Anne Middegaal of Seaforth are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Judy Anne to Craig Andrew, son of Ken and Carol Rock of Monkton.
