lessons soon
The Seaforth Recreation
Department's sign language
program beginning June 6 is
full. A second night, Tuesday
evening, has been filled up as
well. If you are still interested in
this program we hope to run it
again next spring.
The Seaforth Minor Ball
Houseleague will begin on Mon-
day, June 6. Please look in
today's paper for team lists.
Also the house league soccer
will begin on June 8. 'Team lists
will be in the paper as well. If
more information is needed
please call the recreation office
at 527-0882.
Senior Shuffleboard continues
every Wednesday afternoon from
1:30 to 4:00 pm. Last week's
winners were:

The Seaforth Senior Games
will continue in May with the
following events:
May 25 - Golf at the Golf
Course - 10:30 a.m.
May 26 - Lawn Bowling at
10:30 a.m.

The Seaforth Lions Pool will
be accepting swimming lesson
registration on Saturday, June 4
and Saturday, June 11 from
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. both
days at the Lions Park Pavilion.
There will be limits on all
classes, so be sure to register
during these two days. No early,
registrations, as well as no phone
registrations will be taken. The
sessions will be as follows; July
4 - July 22,
July 25 - August 12 and
August 15 - Sept. 2.

Ontario hospital
auxilaries donate $20
million to health care
The May meeting of the Seaforth
Hospital Auxiliary was opened by
President Margaret M. Mennell who
welcomed everyone. The Auxiliary
Prayer was recited in union.
Reports were given by Margaret
M. Mennell and Lynda Huard from
the Hospital Auxiliaries Association
of Ontario (H.A.A.O.) seminar held
in Toronto, with the theme Team
Building for to -morrow, and the
Spring Conference held in Fergus at
Groves Memorial Hospital.
Peter Harris, chairman of the
Board of H,A.A.O. stated, in
Ontario there are 250 auxiliaries
with 51,000 Ontario members who
in 1993 donated 4 million hours of
raised $20 million which all goes
back into the health care system.
All 13 regions were in attendance.

Excellence Group Inc. spoke on
recruiting for leadership and
growth. `Break the rules and
change," the speaker urged. We
should select new members, bring
back our older ones, retires, house
wives and teens. Keep recruiting
after gaining the people you need.
Brian Little gave a very
interesting service on consulting,
understanding, coping and diversity.
People trained in First Aid have
30 per cent fewer accidents ($3.9
Billion) due to accidents. Nineteen
million person days are lost from
work per year due to injuries. The
object of 'Save a Life 94' is to help
St. John's Ambulance people who
are volunteers themselves.
Remember when you *tie Kong
and had energy to spare? Now that
you are older and have time to
spare come and volunteer.
Twelve members attended the
spring confernece held in Fergus at
Graves Memorial Hospital. Frances
Rose Teatero was installed as
Region 2 Chairperson of the
H.A.A.O. Congratulations go to
Frances.
Reports were given by the various
officers and carried. Shirley
Dinsmore reported on the Easter
egg project netting a profit of
$549.87.
Shirley also reported for the
palliative care support service and
they are in the process of forming a
board of directors. An eight-week
training coarse in pallative care will
start in September.
The Hospital Auxiliary June
dinner will be held on June 14 at
the Seaforth Legion Hall. Draw for
the decorative sweater will take
place. Members attending please
contact Dorothy Hays for tickets.
The Mason Jar program will be
carried out during July and August.
The meeting closed with Elly
Taylor winning the mystery prize
and a delious lunch was served.
May brings weddings
Judy Middegaal and Craig Rock
will be happily united in marriage
on May 28 at St. James Church,
Seaforth. Judy is the daughter of
John and Anne Middegaal of
Seaforth, and Craig is the son of
Ken and Carol Rock of Monkton.
Congratulations, Judy and Craig,
and many happy years ahead!
Congratulations also go to the
parents.
On Thursday, May 19 a
miscellaneous shower was held at
Orange Hall, Seaforth, for Judy and
also forll t)i tg; A ar'!e (who is
being married in the near future).
Judy and Dianne were both students
of Dorothy at St. James School and
"I wish them a wonderful happy
life ahead!"

upset with road
subsidy cut
On May 3 Tuckersmith Township
Council passed a motion to advise
the province it was upset with a cut
in a municipal road subsidy when
the{ _Minister had announced there
would Be no -i tlon-in 1994 road
grants.
