Student jobs available
If you are a student looking for
a job you may benefit from an
outreach program of the Canada
Employment Centre for Students
and the Huron Board of Educa-
tion. This year the centre,
located in Goderich, will locate
a 'Start' trailer in Clinton for job
seekers.
This summer the Goderich
employment centre, on 52 East
Street, is staffed by Jennifer
Jewitt and the Exeter Centre, on
281 Main Street, is headed by
Sheila Dougall. Leila Beier will
be working in conjunction with
the Canada Employment Centre
for Students (CEC-S) and the
Huron County Board of Educa-
tion, located in the START
trailer beside Central Huron
Secondary School in Clinton.
The three Summer Employ-
ment Officers are eager to assist
students who are looking for
summer employment. Students
are encouraged to come into one
of the offices and fill out a reg-
istration card, and to check the
current job postings on the job
employment board.
Leila will also be available on
Tuesdays and Fridays, to visit
grade 7 and 8 classes to do
workshops on Job Readiness
Training. As well, employment
booths and job readiness training
workshops will be available to
the Secondary Schools of Huron
County, where information
regarding job search processes
and upcoming workshops will be
accessible to students.
The team of Student Employ-
ment officers encourage
employees to take advantage of
the numerous benefits that hiring
a student can offer. Interested
employers should contact the
Exeter or Goderich CEC-S
Here are the phone numbers:

Girls marching band to
perform at Skdome
The Seaforth and District High
School All -Girls Marching Band
will entertain dignitaries from
Europe on Tuesday, May 17
from 8:30 to 10:30 during their
breakfast on the field level of
the Skydome. The band will be
sharing the spotlight with the
Toronto Argonaut cheerleaders.
The band presentation will be
three five-minute field shows for
the visitors. In between shows
.the band will used the dressing
rooms of the visiting major
baseball teams and to add more
excitement to the show will be
the presence of some of the Blue
Jays.
The band is hired to perform
by a Toronto entertainment
company. According to band
director Charles Kalbfleisch, it's
a feather in the band's cap to be
chosen over a Toronto band.
"We will be making use of our
dancers, flag wavers and tradi-
tional colour party to make an
exciting presentation," he said.
The only drawback will be that
the band buses will leave
Goderich at 4:30 a.m. and
Seaforth at 5:00 a.m. in order to
practise on the field before the
guests arrive.
The band is now busy recruit-
ing new members and is work-
ing hard to prepare for the June
and July parades. The band will
be holding a pork barbecue at
the Seaforth High School Cafe-
teria on Sunday, June 12 from
4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
