WHAT IS IT AND WILL IT FLOAT? - Four Clinton men took to the rushing waters of the Bayfield River
on Saturday for the annual Seaforth Optimist Canoe Rally in what looked like a boat the Flintstones
might use. The vessel was constructed from oil drums and foam. In front, or the bow: Jamie Riley and
Ryan Macaulay. In the stem: Rob Finch and Mike Kerr. Their boat was one of the last to launch.

Play on Tom Thomson
Tom Thomson is a legend among
Canadian painters. His
canvases - Jack Pine, Northern
River, and The West Wind - are a
treasured part of our national
heritage, and the mystery of his
death in Algonquin Park in 1917
remains unsolved to his day. Jim
Betts, one of Cj ada's most
talented composer/pal ivy ' hts, tells
the story of Thomson's le and art
in this Colours in the torm, a
startling new musical play full of
humor, passion and . intrigue,
coming to the Blyth Memorial Hall
for one performance only, 8 p.m.
Sunday, May 8.
Colours in the Storm is the story
of a man who at age 34 discovers
what he wants to do with his life
and for the next five short years
furiously pursues his obsession: to
capture in paint the exact quality of
the color he finds in the northern
landscape. As well as the obsessive
artist, Thomson is revealed as a
gregarious and charismatic charmer,
who stirs up dark passions in those
around him.
Thomson was a Toronto photo-
engraver when he met Ben Jackson,
who first took him to Algonquin
Park in 1912, along with some of
the other artists who would later
form the Group of Seven: J.E.H.
MacDonald, Franklin Carmichael,
Frederick Varley and Arthur
Lismer.

Overseeding means sowing grass seed over a lawn where some grass
is already established. Dead patches left from winter, disease or insect
damage are often overseeded.
When overseeding, rake the area well, seed as evenly as you can, then
stamp the seed into contact with the soil. The newly -seeded area must
be kept moist by watering it frequently.
Homeowners are sometimes disappointed with the initial results from
overseeding. Overseeded areas take approximately one whole month to
become established and people easily get frustrated. Overseeding can
help to improve a problem_area,so _tie patientandkeep-_watering!

THE PURSUIT SQUADRON
"No matter
when we
apply it,
Pursuit gives us
great results.!'
Joel Robson, Ildel toil, ,Oiltario
When you farm 4,000 acres, flexibility is a
pretty important consideration. That's just one
of the reasons Joel Robson, who farms in part-
nership with his brothers, Jay and Jamie, uses
PURSUIT. "We use a lot of different kinds of
tillage - some no -till, a bit of minimum till and
conventional tlllage," says Joel, "so we use PURSUIT
just about every way you can - early preplant,
preplant incorporated, pre emerge and even a little
bit of post emerge. 1t depends on the situation."
"But no matter when we apply PURSUIT, it
gives us the results we need," Joel adds, "and it
gives us results consistently. That's a major
issue for us."
"We switched to a PyRSUIT program to get a
little better control of ragweed and lamb's quarters,"
Joel says, "and it's done the job for us. A PURSUIT
tank -mix is as good as anything out there."
Top soybean growers like Joel Robson rely on
PURSUIT for its wide window of application.
And for the peace of mind that comes from
knowing that PURSUIT will control their grass
and broadleaf weeds - including velvetleaf,
nightshade and triazine-resistants - under any
kind of growing conditions.
Performance. Consistency. Flexibility. That's
what control's all about.
