The volunteer Hibbert Township
History Committee got a big shot in
the arm last week, when they were
presented with a $10,902 cheque
from the federal government.
John Richardson, Perth -Welling-
ton -Waterloo MP, made the presen-
tation during their New Horizons
subcommittee meeting last Wednes-
day morning at the Hibbert Town-
ship municipal office in Dublin.
Since last June, 14 volunteers --the
majority of whom are seniors --have
worked on trying to compile the
history of Hibbert Township, which
will be published in book form and
ready in time for the township's
150th birthday in August of 1996.

Davis Alexander Moore passed
away peacefully at St. Joseph's
Hospital, Guelph in his 88th year.
Survived by his wife Deane
(Dorland), daughter Ann Curlew,
son Davis George, three
grandchildren, six great-
grandchildren and three sisters-in-
law. Also survived by many nieces
and nephews including Margaret
Beuermann and Ken Moore of
Seaforth.
Predeceased by his first wife Elsie
(Hall), three brothers, Harvey,
Andrew, Robert and sister Ann
Moore. Born June 7, 1906 in
Tuckersmith township, he was a
graduate of Stratford Normal
School, and later received his B.A.
degree from the University of
_Toronto. He retired to Guelph after
teaching 38 years at Bedford Park
school, _Toronto,Amemorial ser-

REV. JOHN STINSON
Rev. John W.A. Stinson died at
Port Alberni Hospital, Port Alberni,
B.C. on Wednesday, March 30,
1994 in his 84th year. Dear husband
of the late Isabelle (Morris) Stinson
and father of Dr. Dora Ann Stinson
of Halifax, N.S., David Stinson and
his wife, Heather of Waterloo,
Maurice Stinson and his wife, Jane
of Burlington and Mary Belle
Jarman and her husband, Phil of
Port Alberni, B.C. Survived also by
his eight grandchildren. He was the
youngest son of the late William
and Dora Stinson and was prede-
ceased by his brothers Albert and
Austin Stinson and his sisters,
Grace Ziegler, Elsie Oxby, Claretta
Bryan and Ruth Connell. Rev.
Stinson served the United Church
of Canada on the Mission Field in
China and at charges in Binbrook,
Seaforth, London, Agincourt,
Meaford, Kurtzville and Kingsway-
Lambton. He was minister of
Northside United Church, Seaforth
from 1952-1955.
Rested at the Hardy -Lee Funeral
Home, Harriston. The funeral ser-
vice was held from Harriston
United Church on Monday, April 4,
1994 at 11 a.m. •Interment in
Harrison Cemetery.

The family of Thomas Carter
announces with sorrow his quiet
passing at Seaforth Community
Hospital on April 10th, 1994. He
was 86.
He was a kind and gentle husband
and father. He was born in
Toucnham, England on March 9,
1908. He married the former
Margaret McClure in 1940. He
retired from the Seaforth Co-op and
was a member of First Presbyterian
Church, Seaforth. Past Noble Grand
and member of Seaforth Fidelity
Lodge #55 I.O.O.F.
Survived by his wife, Margaret
(McClure) and dear father of Agnes
(Mrs. Sam Moore) of Sebringville,
Marlene (Mrs. Lloyd Steinbach) of
Mitchell, Emily (Mrs. Bill Foun-
tain) of London, and Leslie of
Brantford and Stuart of Winnipeg.
Dear brother of Rosa, Alice and
Beth, all of England. Also survived
by 13 grandchildren and 10 great-
grandchildren. Predeceased by one
grandson Barry.
Ftiends called at the Whitncy-
Ribcy Funeral Home on Monday,
April 11 and Tuesday, April 12.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
April 12 at the funeral home. Rev.
James Sloan officiated.
Pallbearers were Todd Carter,
Larry Moore, Steven Moore, Gerry
Moore, Bruce Steinbach and Chris
Fountain,
Interment Maitlandbank Cem-
etery. An I.O.O,F. Memorial Ser-
vice was held at the funeral home
Monday evening, April 11 at 9 p.m.

Richardson said it was a pleasure
to officially make the presentation,
especially since he has seen fust -
hand the effort of the community as
a whole in their participation in the
popular township -sponsored levees

past two years.
"It's great to see the committee
pull it all together," he said.
